As a Line Cook in our Caf, you will prepare fresh, high-quality meals, serve customers at the register as a cashier, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly. POSITION SUMMARY:

In this part-time line cook role, you will prepare dishes according to standardized recipes and instructions, handle cashier duties, keep workstations clean and orderly, and work closely with the team in a dynamic kitchen. As our line cook, you will report to the Caf Manager and work daily with the chefs and Caf staff. You will also serve students, employees, and members of the public as Caf customers every day, so friendly customer service is a must. Attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and the ability to work well under pressure are essential. This position is on campus only in St. George, Utah.

PAY AND HOURS:

- Pay: $18 per hour

- Part-time, Monday through Thursday, 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM

- No benefits are provided beyond the hourly pay

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kitchen and Food Preparation

- Assist chefs with preparing meals for the Caf

- Assist other Caf staff with cleanup, dishes, and next-day preparations

- Maintain clean and tidy work areas and stock items

- Bag, box, or wrap packages

Cashier and Customer Service

- Handle cash and credit transactions, scan goods, and collect payments

- Redeem stamps and coupons

- Issue receipts, refunds, change, or tickets and keep reports of transactions

- Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful customer service

- Resolve customer complaints and provide relevant information

- Make sales referrals, cross-sell products, and introduce new ones

Teamwork and Policies

- Ensure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 years or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition. Report all violations immediately to HR or Student Services

- Adhere to all Dixie Tech policies and procedures

- Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills and Equipment

- Basic familiarity with electronic cashier equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and money counters

- Attention to detail and mathematical skills

- Sales skills

Communication and Customer Service

- Strong communication and time management skills

- Customer satisfaction-oriented

Physical Requirements

- Regularly required to talk and hear

- Very active position that requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching

- Frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds

- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
