About this role

Machine Builder II – Custom Automation Equipment

AeroSpec is seeking an experienced, hands-on Machine Builder II to help build precision custom automation equipment.
This is an intermediate-level position for someone who is comfortable working from mechanical drawings, assembling and aligning machine components, and taking ownership of machine subassemblies and sections with moderate supervision. Our Machine Builders work closely with Engineering, Machining, Controls, and Production to turn engineered designs into reliable, well-crafted automated equipment.

About AeroSpec
AeroSpec designs and builds custom automated manufacturing equipment, control systems, and control panels for a wide range of industries. Since 1982, we have designed and developed more than 1,200 custom machines and automated systems, and in the last two years alone have produced more than 3,000 control panels.
Our work ranges from individual machines to complex automation systems, giving our Machine Builders the opportunity to work on a wide variety of equipment and manufacturing challenges. Visit www.aerospecinc.com (http://www.aerospecinc.com) to see examples of the technology and equipment we build.

What You’ll Do
- Independently assemble mechanical subassemblies and machine sections from drawings, bills of material, and specifications.
- Install and fit components, such as linear rails and bearings, shafts and couplings, belts and pulleys, gearboxes, motors, actuators, fixtures, and tooling.
- Perform standard mechanical alignment and adjustment of machine components.
- Install and connect basic pneumatic components and assemblies.
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and shop equipment to complete machine builds.
- Inspect your own work for proper fit, alignment, workmanship, and conformance to drawings.
- Identify drawing, component, fit, or assembly problems and communicate discrepancies to Engineering or your supervisor.
- Support machine testing, adjustment, and mechanical troubleshooting during integration.
- Make routine work-execution decisions independently while seeking assistance when problems extend beyond the scope of the machine section being built.
- Maintain AeroSpec standards for craftsmanship, organization, safety, and quality.

Qualifications
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in machine building, automation equipment, precision mechanical assembly, machining, toolmaking, or similar work.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly prints.
- Experience assembling precision mechanical components and equipment.
- Working knowledge of alignment, fits, tolerances, fasteners, and mechanical hardware.
- Familiarity with basic pneumatic systems.
- Experience using precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and similar inspection equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to recognize and solve routine assembly problems.
- A demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and minimizing reworkk

 Experience that’s a Plus
Experience with manual machining is especially valuable. Candidates who have worked with mills, lathes, precision measurement, blueprint reading, tolerances, fits, and inspection often develop the mechanical understanding needed to become exceptional machine builders.
Backgrounds that may translate particularly well include:
- Machine Builder
- Automation Equipment Builder
- Prototype or Manual Machinist
- Toolmaker
- Mechanical Assembly Technician
- CNC Machinist with strong mechanical assembly experience

What Success Looks Like
A successful Machine Builder II is someone we can give a machine section or significant subassembly and expect it to be built correctly, aligned properly, inspected carefully, and completed with relatively little day-to-day direction .
You won't be expected to know everything. You will be expected to recognize problems, ask good questions, work effectively with Engineering and other technical groups, and steadily expand the amount of the machine you can build and troubleshoot independently.

Benefits
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Weekly pay
- Employer-paid medical plans with buy-up options
- Employer-paid dental and vision coverage
