ABOUT TRIP

TRIP's mission is to create calm in the everyday chaos for our community, offering next-generation wellness products to power their lifestyle and nurture mental wellbeing.

Co-founders, husband-and-wife team Olivia and Daniel, discovered plant-based wellness after a transformative personal experience and launched TRIP in 2019 to bring delicious, high-quality functional drinks and supplements to millions of people globally.

Now the world's #1 Calming Beverage Brand, TRIP's award-winning drinks and wellness products are crafted with botanicals and adaptogens to help people relax, unwind and find balance. Since launch, TRIP has rapidly expanded from the UK across Europe and North America, generating over $100 million in sales. Our products are available in leading supermarkets, natural retailers and online.

Our vision is to become the global leader in calming drinks and supplements — synonymous with calm in the same way Red Bull is with energy. We move fast, think big and are committed to becoming the defining brand for a generation who drinks less but prioritises mental wellbeing more than ever.

There has never been a better time to join our team and be part of the movement.

THE ROLE

As our Data Lead, you'll be the owner of data across TRIP: what we collect, how it's modelled, who can use it and whether people trust it. You'll work AI-first: using AI to build, test and document faster, and shaping our data so AI tools can use it reliably.

Today our numbers live in many places: Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, our ad platforms, CRM, retailer sales data, market panels, finance and supply chain systems. Much of our retail data still arrives as manual monthly exports, and teams spend too long reconciling it all. You'll change that. You'll lead the move to a single, well-governed warehouse on Snowflake, set the standards everyone builds on and give every team one version of the truth for revenue, margin and customers.

This is a build-and-lead role. You'll be hands-on with the architecture, models and pipelines in your first months, while building and managing a small team, including offshore data engineers. You'll work closely with Digital, Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain and our implementation partners. You'll report to our Head of AI Transformation, and have oversight over our Operations Analyst and Operations Systems Specialists.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Own TRIP's data

- Be the primary owner of data across the organisation, accountable for its quality, definitions and availability in the UK and US.
- Set and maintain one set of definitions for our core metrics, including revenue, contribution margin, customer acquisition cost and retention, so every team reports the same numbers.
- Own data governance and access: who can see and change what, how sensitive and customer data is protected, and how AI tools connect to our data safely.
- Hold a high bar for data cleanliness and rigour: test data at every layer, reconcile it to source systems and to Finance, and catch issues before they reach a report.
- Be the first person teams come to with a data question, and turn recurring questions into self-serve answers.

Build the warehouse and pipelines

- Lead the build of our Snowflake warehouse with our implementation partner, from raw data through cleaned and modelled layers to the tables our teams and planning tools use.
- Own our transformation layer in dbt: model design, testing, documentation and deployment.
- Use AI coding assistants and agents as a standard part of how the team writes, tests and documents pipelines and models, and automate repetitive data work rather than doing it by hand.
- Take ownership of our data pipelines, including the existing BigQuery data lake and the feeds from our sales, marketing, CRM, finance and operations systems, and plan how they move to or connect with Snowflake.
- Monitor pipeline health, cost and freshness, and fix the root cause when data is late, missing or wrong.

Bring our retail data together

- Own our retail data in the UK and US: retailer EPOS data from portals such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Morrisons, syndicated market data from Circana, NielsenIQ, SPINS and Numerator, and account data from retailers such as Walmart and Target.
- Replace manual exports with automated, tested loads wherever retailers and data providers allow it, and keep a clear record of each source's coverage and refresh dates.
- Join retail sell-out, distribution and market share with our DTC and marketplace data, so the business can see TRIP's total performance by product, channel and market.
- Give our Commercial and Category teams reliable reporting on rate of sale, distribution, promotions and share.
- Help measure how our marketing drives retail sales, for example through store-level tests with the Digital team.

Build and lead the team

- Hire, manage and develop a small data team, including offshore data engineers, and set how they work, review code and prioritise.
- Build a roadmap and run the team in short sprints, prioritising work by its impact on the business.
- Manage relationships with data partners and vendors, holding them to clear deliverables.

Make TRIP data-driven

- Champion data-driven decisions across the business: help teams set measurable goals, test ideas properly and bring the numbers into weekly and monthly reviews.
- Make sure reporting for leadership, Finance and channel teams runs from the warehouse rather than spreadsheets.
- Work with our Head of AI Transformation so data is warehoused for analysis by people and AI alike: clean, documented models that AI assistants and automations can query reliably.
- Explain data clearly to non-technical colleagues and train teams to answer their own questions.

ABOUT YOU

You've built a modern data stack before, you know what good looks like and you can get there in a growing business without a big team. You're as comfortable writing a dbt model as you are explaining a number to the leadership team.

What you'll bring

- Experience leading data in a growing business, typically gained over five years or more in data engineering or analytics engineering, including leading a small team.
- Hands-on, production experience with Snowflake.
- Strong dbt experience: modelling, testing, documentation and deployment.
- Experience designing, building and maintaining data pipelines from SaaS and ad platforms, using tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte or custom connectors.
- Strong SQL, plus Python for pipelines and automation.
- Experience with retail data: EPOS or retailer portal data, and syndicated market data such as Circana, NielsenIQ or SPINS.
- A track record of building and managing a data team, including hiring and developing people. Experience managing offshore or remote engineers is a plus.
- Experience setting data governance, metric definitions and access controls.
- A rigorous, detail-minded approach: you check numbers before you share them, and you'll say so when the data doesn't support a conclusion.
- An AI-first way of working: you already use tools such as Claude, Cursor or Copilot every day to build and check your work, and you know where they help and where they need checking.
- Clear communication and the confidence to align teams that currently use different numbers.

It would be a bonus if you also have

- Experience in e-commerce, DTC, food, drink or FMCG, including Shopify or Amazon data.
- Experience with BigQuery or Google Cloud, or with migrating between warehouses.
- Experience feeding planning, forecasting or finance tools from a warehouse.
- Experience connecting AI tools or LLMs to company data.
- Experience with a BI or visualisation platform such as Power BI or Looker.

You don't need experience with every tool listed. We're interested in what you've built, how you lead and how you'd approach our data.
