Your role

We are recruiting an Audio Research Scientist within our Neuroscience & Medical Research department, to contribute to pioneering research at the intersection of auditory science and human neuroscience. They will support our mission to develop cutting-edge MedTech solutions, to enhance human hearing and address hearing-related disorders. This person will be directly involved in the design and the realization of new research protocols to study audio-visual interactions and hearing related disorders.

The main mission of the position is to design and conduct experimental and clinical research to investigate perceptual and cognitive processes mediating hearing. These studies will involve measures of human auditory behavior (and related neurophysiological data), with state-of-the-art research equipment.

The main challenge is to operate at the frontier between upstream research and industrial technological development, following scientific methodological rigor and translating early-stage research insights into tangible technological directions. Timely delivery of experimental results and recommendations with clear translational relevance for future innovation are key in the success of this job.

Main responsibilities:

– Design and lead experimental and clinical studies in the field of human auditory science

- Design experimental protocols to investigate auditory perception, audio-visual interactions and hearing-related disorders in humans

- Contribute to study planning, participant inclusion criteria, ethics-related documentation and data collection workflows and coordinate or support the execution of studies with internal teams and external partners

– Analyze and interpret research data

- Process and analyze behavioral, perceptual, and where relevant neurophysiological data

- Apply appropriate statistical methods to test hypotheses and evaluate research outcomes while ensuring high standards of data quality, reproducibility, and methodological rigor

– Translate research findings

- Produce internal reports and presentations summarizing methods, results, and implications

- Formulate scientific recommendations relevant to future product and technology directions

- Publish peer-reviewed scientific publications and conference communications in the field of human auditory science

- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders

– Contribute scientific expertise across projects and collaborations

- Provide expertise in hearing research to cross-functional teams and interact with internal stakeholders working on audio technologies, smart eyewear, AI, vision, and related domains

- Help identify new research opportunities, hypotheses, and methodological approaches

Main requirements:

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a field related to human hearing and auditory perception, such as Auditory Neuroscience, Psychoacoustics, Speech and Language Perception, or Auditory Perception Disorders.

- Strong scientific and engineering background, preferably in Acoustics, Signal Processing, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

- At least three years of experience in experimental hearing research, ideally involving the design, execution, and analysis of clinical or behavioral studies with human participants.

- Proven expertise in data analysis, with strong programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB.

- Solid understanding of experimental design, research methodologies, and statistical analysis.

- Demonstrated scientific rigor, critical thinking, and advanced problem-solving capabilities.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.

- Highly autonomous, intellectually curious, and motivated to bridge the gap between fundamental research and real-world innovation.

Candidates who are nearing completion of their PhD or who have recently completed a first postdoctoral experience are encouraged to apply, provided they can demonstrate substantial hands-on experience in experimental research involving human participants. The successful candidate will thrive in a multidisciplinary environment and be driven by the opportunity to generate scientific insights that contribute to the development of next-generation hearing technologies.
