Context and purpose of the job

The Data Analyst enables BRIDGE+ management and delivery teams to make timely, evidence-based decisions by turning data from multiple components, regions and partners into reliable, accessible and actionable management information.

BRIDGE+ (Building Rural Income through Inclusive Dairy Business Growth in Ethiopia) is implemented by a consortium of SNV, Wageningen University & Research and Agriterra. The program contributes to the transformation of Ethiopia’s dairy sector through multiple technical components, regional structures and partnerships.

The role combines data systems management with advanced analysis and decision support. It is accountable for data architecture, system administration, data processing, technical quality controls, reproducible analysis, dashboards and analytical products, including the effective use of LogAlto and complementary approved tools.

The Data Analyst reports to the Partnership & Performance Advisor. The MEAL function owns the results framework, indicator definitions, monitoring methodology, evaluation and learning processes, and program-level interpretation. The Senior Data Analyst translates these requirements into robust data structures, controls and analytical products. The two functions jointly agree data-quality protocols, reporting calendars and analytical priorities.

Job Description

Planning

- Develop and periodically update the program’s data systems, analytics and visualisation plan in consultation with the Partnership & Performance Advisor and relevant functions.
- Map data systems, tools and flows; identify priorities for integration, automation and improvement.
- Define and maintain data-management procedures, dictionaries, metadata and data-flow documentation.
- Consult intended users to prioritise management-information, analytical and dashboard requirements.

Implementation

- Administer and strengthen LogAlto and other approved data tools, ensuring system functionality, appropriate access and timely dataset updates.
- Design and maintain digital data-collection tools and databases aligned with the results framework and SNV standards.
- Integrate data across components, regions and partners and automate routine processing where feasible.
- Develop, test and maintain decision-oriented dashboards and visualisations, periodically reviewing their accessibility, usability and relevance.
- Apply role-based access, data-sharing, retention, archiving, backup and recovery requirements, and escalate suspected security or confidentiality incidents.
- Resolve data-system issues and maintain version-controlled, reproducible documentation for analytical files, scripts, calculations and dashboard updates.
- Ensure data integrity, privacy, and security in line with SNV, Government and donor data governance protocols.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

- Translate MEAL-approved indicator definitions, disaggregation requirements and validation rules into practical data structures, controls and documented calculations.
- Lead technical data-quality checks, reconciliation and issue tracking, providing evidence for MEAL-led quality assurance and interpretation.
- Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, performance gaps, variations, emerging risks and actionable insights for MEAL-led evaluation and learning processes.
- Prepare analytical briefs, management updates, tables and graphics for periodic, donor and learning reports.
- Analyse assessments, surveys, studies and reviews, documenting sources, methods, assumptions, calculations and limitations.
- Advise management on performance trends, analytical priorities, evidence limitations and investment options for data systems and capacity.

Networking, Learning & Representation

- Develop practical guidance and build the capability of program and partner staff in digital data collection, data quality, analysis, interpretation, visualisation and responsible data use.
- Collaborate with MEAL, component leads, regional teams, Research & Development colleagues and implementing partners to triangulate evidence and generate insights.
- Provide authoritative technical advice on indicator feasibility, disaggregation and data requirements.
- Translate results and analysis into clear visuals and evidence for briefs, presentations and publications.
- Coordinate with corporate data, digital and IT functions and represent BRIDGE+ on technical data and analytics matters.
-  Perform other activities as assigned.
