Job Overview
The SAP Basis Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, availability, security, and reliability of enterprise-critical SAP systems across a global environment. This role supports key business functions, including finance, order management, inventory, procurement, shipping, and engineering.
You will collaborate with global SAP, infrastructure, network, security, and business teams to maintain a stable SAP landscape, drive continuous improvement, identify automation opportunities, and support strategic technology initiatives. The role offers opportunities to make independent technical decisions and contribute to the evolution of the company’s SAP infrastructure and digital strategy.
What You Will Do
- SAP Landscape Management: Execute SAP infrastructure and architecture roadmaps, ensuring system stability, availability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
- System Administration: Install, configure, patch, maintain, and refresh SAP applications and database systems.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, analyze resource utilization, perform tuning and capacity management, and proactively identify potential issues.
- Incident and Service Management: Handle service management tickets, troubleshoot system issues, perform health checks, and support break/fix activities.
- Infrastructure Collaboration: Partner with data center, network, storage, security, and database teams to deliver reliable and secure SAP solutions.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Support SAP infrastructure design and initiatives involving high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Automation and Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate routine activities, improve operational efficiency, and enhance existing processes.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain technical specifications, system architecture diagrams, design documents, requirements, and test scripts.
- Business-Critical Support: Support SAP Digital Technology (DT) teams during critical system outages, planned maintenance, and operational activities.
- Global Support: Participate in on-call rotations, work in US hours as required, and provide weekend support when necessary.
What You Will Learn

Qualifications You Must Have
- 15+ years of experience working in an SAP Basis administration role.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, storage, databases, and application architecture.
- Hands-on experience administering SAP ECC, BW, PI, Solution Manager, and SAP HANA systems.
- Knowledge of system architecture, performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity management methodologies and tools.
- Experience in scripting using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at different organizational levels, including leadership.
- Ability to work in a global support environment, including US working hours, on-call rotations, and occasional weekend support.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Extensive hands-on experience in SAP BASIS administration and technical operations across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW/BW4HANA, SAP PI/PO, SAP Solution Manager, SAP SRM, SAP SCM/APO, SAP Content Server, SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Data Services, and Redwood scheduling
- Experience with SAP installations, upgrades, support package implementations, kernel upgrades, system conversions, migrations, system copies, client copies, system refreshes, and landscape maintenance
- Experience leading SAP upgrade, Migration and transformation programs
- Strong administration experience with SAP HANA, ORACLE and SAP Sybase ASE databases, including backup/recovery, performance tuning, and database maintenance
- Experience in designing and supporting High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and business continuity solutions
- Execute system refreshes, client copies, system copies, and landscape maintenance activities
- Perform SAP HANA database administration, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and HANA System Replication (HSR).
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems in SAP environments
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and other enterprise cloud environments
- Experience with RISE with SAP transformation and migration initiatives, including system migration, landscape optimization, and cloud adoption
- Experience managing SAP transport landscapes, change management processes, and SAP ChaRM (Change Request Management).
- Experience working in global delivery and support models, including coordination with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across multiple geographies.
- Experience supporting SAP identity integration with Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, and other enterprise authentication mechanisms.
- Experience developing automation scripts using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages to streamline SAP BASIS operations.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related field, along with relevant experience.
- Advanced degree: A master’s or other advanced degree in a related field may be considered with the applicable level of relevant experience.
- Experience in lieu of education: Candidates without a degree may qualify with equivalent relevant professional experience, subject to company policy and applicable requirements.
