Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Field Engineer to support federal facility assessments, construction oversight, quality control, and hurricane recovery work in Kauai, Hawaii. You will connect engineering recommendations with field execution as teams assess damaged buildings, roofs, building envelopes, utilities, and related infrastructure and advance from emergency protection and water damage mitigation to permanent repairs. Assigned scopes may include weatherproofing, interior water damage repairs, debris clearance, utility restoration, and infrastructure recovery. Working closely with engineers, construction managers, and subcontractors, you will document site conditions, review technical requirements, monitor construction activities, inspect materials and workmanship, and help ensure repairs meet approved drawings, specifications, and project quality standards. You will also identify deficiencies, coordinate corrective actions, and maintain accurate field and inspection records to support timely resolution of construction issues and successful project closeout. This is an opportunity to apply your technical, field engineering, and quality control expertise to recovery efforts that restore essential federal facilities.

This role requires an onsite presence in Kauai, Hawaii, and is eligible for per diem related expenses when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

Document facility damage assessments through field observations, measurements, photographs, and sketches to support repair scopes and engineering recommendations.

Inspect materials, workmanship, and completed repairs for conformance with approved drawings, specifications, engineering recommendations, and project quality requirements.

Monitor subcontractor work and construction progress, identify deficiencies or deviations, and coordinate resolution with engineering and construction leads.

Review drawings, specifications, and engineering recommendations with field teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve construction questions.

Coordinate requests for information, submittals, field questions, inspections, and testing with engineering teams, construction managers, subcontractors, and qualified testing personnel.

Observe repair activities and identify unexpected site conditions or technical issues requiring additional engineering review.

Maintain accurate field and quality documentation, including inspection reports, photographs, checklists, field notes, deficiency logs, and corrective action records.

Track nonconforming work, communicate findings, coordinate corrective actions, and verify completed corrections through follow-up inspections.

Assist with quantity verification, material tracking, progress reporting, and coordination of construction and restoration activities.

Support emergency weatherproofing, water damage mitigation, building envelope and roof restoration, interior repairs, debris clearance, utility restoration, and related infrastructure work as assigned.

Assist with punch lists, final inspections, as-built documentation, turnover records, and project closeout.

Follow applicable site safety requirements, quality procedures, and facility access protocols.
