The Opportunity

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will drive the architecture, design, and development of large-scale ad serving, measurement, targeting, and data engineering systems that power LG Ad Solutions’ global advertising platform.

As a senior technical leader, you will own critical technical initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams, establish architectural direction, and drive the delivery of highly scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient distributed systems. You will work closely with engineering, product, and operations teams across geographies, providing technical leadership and collaborating with teams in the US and India to deliver high-impact solutions.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an engineer who combines deep software engineering expertise with strong architectural judgment, a track record of solving complex engineering problems, and the ability to influence technical decisions across teams. You will also mentor senior engineers, establish engineering best practices, and help shape the long-term technical roadmap of LG Ad Solutions.

Responsibilities

- Technical Leadership and Architecture: Define and drive the architecture of large-scale, distributed software systems, making critical technical decisions around scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- System Design and Scalability: Design and evolve high-throughput ad serving, targeting, measurement, and data processing systems capable of handling large data volumes and demanding latency requirements.
- End-to-End Technical Ownership: Lead complex, cross-team engineering initiatives from problem definition and requirements gathering through architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Distributed Systems and Data Engineering: Drive the design and optimization of big data applications and distributed computing platforms, improving processing efficiency, resource utilization, and infrastructure cost.
- Technical Strategy and Roadmap: Partner with engineering leadership and product teams to define technical strategy, identify architectural gaps, establish long-term roadmaps, and align engineering investments with business priorities.
- Engineering Excellence: Establish and champion best practices for software design, code quality, testing, observability, operational readiness, and production reliability.
- Cross-Team Influence: Collaborate across engineering teams and organizational boundaries to resolve complex technical challenges, align architectural decisions, and drive consistent engineering standards.
- Mentorship and Technical Development: Mentor senior and junior engineers, guide design and code reviews, and help develop technical leadership within the organization.
- Performance and Reliability: Identify and resolve system bottlenecks, improve service-level objectives, and lead initiatives that enhance throughput, latency, fault tolerance, and overall system resilience.
- Platform Integrations: Lead the design and implementation of integrations with internal and external platforms to expand advertising targeting, measurement, and data capabilities.
- Global Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams in the US and India to drive successful project execution, share technical knowledge, and ensure alignment across distributed teams.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale, production-grade software systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex, distributed systems with significant scale, throughput, reliability, or data processing requirements.
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Go, Scala, Python, Java, or C++, along with a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals.
- Extensive experience with distributed systems, concurrency, data structures, algorithms, system design, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Databricks, and data storage and caching technologies such as MySQL, Redis, or ElastiCache.
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud-native systems using AWS, Kubernetes, and related infrastructure technologies.
- Ability to navigate, understand, and refactor large, complex codebases while maintaining high standards of reliability and maintainability.
- Strong understanding of system observability, production troubleshooting, fault tolerance, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
- Proven ability to make sound architectural trade-offs, evaluate alternative approaches, and influence technical decisions across multiple teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, guide technical discussions, and raise engineering standards across teams.
- Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams and driving projects across geographical boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience building and scaling ad tech platforms, including ad serving, audience targeting, advertising measurement, or real-time bidding systems.
- Proven track record of leading multi-team technical initiatives and delivering significant business and engineering outcomes.
- Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency services and large-scale data processing pipelines.
- Experience with cloud cost optimization, distributed resource management, and large-scale infrastructure efficiency.
- Experience defining architecture standards, technical roadmaps, and engineering practices across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across engineering, product, and operations.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and developing technical leaders.
- Experience working in a global engineering organization with teams across India and the US.
