We are seeking an experienced and passionate Golf Course Superintendent to lead all agronomic operations and maintain the premier conditioning standards expected at one of Northern California's leading private clubs. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader who is dedicated to championship-caliber course conditions, team development, environmental stewardship, and long-term strategic planning.

Position Summary

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and operation of the golf course maintenance department, including turfgrass management, irrigation systems, landscape care, equipment management, budgeting, and personnel leadership. Working closely with the General Manager, Golf Professional Staff, and Golf Course Committee, the Superintendent will play a critical role in enhancing the Member experience through exceptional course presentation and playability.

Essential Responsibilities

- Direct and oversee all golf course maintenance operations to ensure exceptional playing conditions and presentation standards.
- Lead, develop, and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Equipment Technicians, Irrigation Technicians, and Grounds Maintenance Team Members.
- Develop agronomic plans, cultural practices, and maintenance programs that promote healthy turf and consistent course conditions throughout the year.
- Manage and optimize irrigation systems, water usage, moisture management programs, and pump station operations.
- Oversee fertilizer and pesticide applications in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop and administer departmental budgets, monitor financial performance, and manage expenses responsibly.
- Coordinate course preparation for tournaments, club events, Member events, and daily play.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with club leadership and membership regarding course conditions, improvement projects, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate on capital improvement projects, course enhancements, and long-range planning initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement within the agronomy team.
- Ensure all maintenance equipment is properly operated, maintained, and serviced.
- Establish effective hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and retention programs for department team members.

Qualifications

- Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of golf course maintenance management experience, including experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at a private club, resort, or high-end daily fee facility.
- California Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC), or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, water management, turfgrass science, equipment operations, and golf course construction practices.
- Experience managing budgets, capital planning, and labor resources.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Pay Range: $70,304.00 - $150,000.00
