About this role
Overview
DecisionPoint seeks two API/Integration Engineers to design, build, test, document, and maintain reusable APIs, interface adapters, and data exchanges for the USMEPCOM ENLIST program. These roles support interoperability across the assigned application portfolio and help ensure that mission systems exchange information securely, accurately, and reliably.
The API/Integration Engineers maintain interface specifications, data mappings, and contract tests; support application and data migration; diagnose integration failures; and coordinate technical solutions across development, architecture, data, testing, cybersecurity, cloud, and Government stakeholder teams.
These positions are remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred.
Note: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.

- Define and document request and response structures, validation rules, error responses, dependencies, authentication requirements, and performance expectations.
- Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests, contract tests, regression tests, and representative test data.
- Verify interface behavior against approved specifications, schemas, mappings, and service contracts.
- Coordinate with consuming and providing systems to validate interoperability and resolve interface discrepancies.
- Apply secure coding practices to APIs, adapters, integration services, and data-processing components.
- Implement approved authentication, authorization, encryption, certificate, logging, and data-protection controls.
- Support application, interface, platform, and data migration activities.
- Analyze legacy interfaces and develop migration, replacement, coexistence, or transition approaches.
- Support integration planning, cutover preparation, migration validation, and post-transition verification.
- Monitor, investigate, and troubleshoot interface failures, data mismatches, timeouts, authentication errors, schema violations, and processing exceptions.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement durable corrective actions for recurring integration problems.

- Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration information, deployment instructions, known limitations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily coordination, demonstrations, reviews, retrospectives, and release-readiness activities.
- Provide implementation estimates and identify interface dependencies, technical risks, assumptions, constraints, and external decisions.
- Support Government demonstrations, user acceptance testing, operational validation, and stakeholder feedback.
- Protect sensitive data and comply with applicable federal, DoD, security, privacy, records-management, and configuration-management requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of API governance, interoperability, testing, documentation, monitoring, and integration practices.
