About this role

Job Title: Data Manager Job Description
The Data Manager bridges mechanical design, enterprise systems, and supply-chain intelligence to ensure every component is accurately costed, sourced, and tracked throughout its lifecycle. This role focuses on ingesting data from mechanical engineering assembly drawings and JIRA tickets, building and maintaining fully costed bills of materials (BOM) for all CMG modules, and keeping part status, lead times, and sourcing information current in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365). The Data Manager also drives automation within D365 and develops proactive tracking for part obsolescence, directly supporting initiatives in the space flight industry and small satellite launch.
Responsibilities
- Ingest data from mechanical engineering assembly drawings and JIRA tickets to create and update comprehensive bills of materials (BOM) for CMG modules.
- Populate and maintain fully costed BOMs, ensuring accurate pricing, quantities, and sourcing details for all components.
- Maintain up-to-date part status, including availability, lead times, and sourcing information within Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across mechanical design information, enterprise systems, and supply-chain records.
- Drive automation of D365 processes to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance data accuracy.
- Develop and implement proactive tracking mechanisms for part obsolescence to support long-term product and supply-chain planning.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, supply-chain, and program teams to align BOM data with design intent and manufacturing requirements.
- Use schematic and engineering drawing knowledge to validate and reconcile BOM data with mechanical assemblies.
- Support manufacturing-related data needs by providing accurate, timely BOM and part information to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data management practices, tools, and workflows within the enterprise systems environment.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience managing bills of materials (BOMs), including costing, sourcing, and lifecycle tracking.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) for data management and supply-chain or manufacturing workflows.
- Strong understanding of schematics and engineering drawings, particularly mechanical assembly drawings.
- Proven experience working with data management in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to interpret and translate engineering and design information into accurate BOM and enterprise system records.
- Experience working with JIRA or similar ticketing systems to ingest and track data related to engineering changes and tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply-chain systems beyond Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Knowledge of schematic-based design processes and their impact on BOM structure and configuration.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, supply-chain, and program leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality, accurate data.
- Interest in supporting space flight initiatives and contributing to small satellite launch programs.
Work Environment
The Data Manager works within an integrated product team structure, reporting to an IPT Lead and collaborating closely with two other Data Managers. The environment is highly collaborative and focused on supporting space flight and small satellite launch initiatives, with frequent interaction with engineering and manufacturing stakeholders. Work is primarily performed using Microsoft Dynamics 365, JIRA, and engineering drawing tools, in a professional office or lab setting oriented around complex mechanical and manufacturing programs.
