What You'll Do as a Lead Janitor / Lead Custodian

You'll combine hands-on cleaning with day-to-day team leadership to ensure cleaning assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards.

- Lead, train, coach, and provide direction to janitorial crew members.

- Perform hands-on commercial janitorial and custodial cleaning duties according to established schedules and quality standards.

- Follow contract specifications, cleaning procedures, and customer requirements.

- Ensure assigned cleaning work is completed accurately, efficiently, safely, and on schedule.

- Operate commercial janitorial and custodial equipment and cleaning tools.

- Drive company janitorial vehicles to transport employees, cleaning supplies, and equipment between work sites.

- Monitor cleaning products, supplies, and equipment and report shortages to the Program Manager.

- Identify and promptly report damaged, defective, or malfunctioning cleaning equipment.

- Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and other scheduled meetings.

- Follow OSHA safety guidelines, Community Access Services safety requirements, company policies, and applicable workplace regulations.

- Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and other individuals as needed.

Qualifications for the Lead Janitor / Custodian Position

We're looking for someone who is reliable, organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently while providing direction to others.

Required qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED.

- Ability to pass a national criminal background check.

- Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles as needed.

- Real ID or passport required for access to work sites.

- Ability to read and understand safety rules, cleaning procedures, equipment instructions, and workplace documents.

- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

- Strong communication, organization, dependability, and attention to detail.

- Ability to perform the physical duties of commercial janitorial and custodial work safely, with reasonable accommodation when applicable.

Preferred qualifications:

- Previous experience in janitorial services, custodial services, commercial cleaning, or facilities maintenance.

- Previous team-lead, supervisory, or training experience.

Leadership experience is a plus, but we're also interested in candidates with transferable skills, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
