Position Purpose
The Person in Charge (PIC) supports store leadership in overseeing store operations and associates during assigned shifts. The PIC helps ensure customers receive excellent service, associates remain productive and engaged, store conditions meet company standards, and operational priorities are completed safely and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities Store Operations
- Support the execution of daily store operations and leadership priorities.
- Provide leadership and direction to associates during assigned shifts.
- Monitor overall store conditions, including cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and product availability.
- Ensure departments maintain appropriate standards throughout the shift.
- Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as assigned.
- Identify operational concerns and promptly communicate them to store leadership.
- Help coordinate workload and resources based on customer traffic and business needs.
Associate Leadership
- Provide associates with clear direction and expectations throughout the shift.
- Assist with prioritizing and delegating tasks.
- Support associates in providing consistent and professional customer service.
- Provide coaching and guidance when operational or customer-service concerns arise.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Escalate associate concerns to appropriate store leadership when necessary.
Customer Service
- Provide friendly, professional, and responsive service to customers.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the store.
- Assist associates with resolving customer questions and concerns.
- Help ensure checkout, sales floor, and service areas are adequately supported during periods of increased customer traffic.
- Promote a positive and welcoming shopping experience.
Merchandising & Store Conditions
- Monitor product availability, stocking, facing, and merchandising throughout the store.
- Assist with ensuring promotional displays, signage, and pricing are maintained appropriately.
- Support recovery efforts and help maintain clean, organized sales and backroom areas.
- Communicate inventory, merchandising, or store-condition concerns to the appropriate department or store leader.
Safety, Security & Compliance
- Support compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Monitor the store for potential safety hazards and take appropriate action when concerns are identified.
- Support company loss-prevention and asset-protection practices.
- Help ensure associates follow applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
- Follow established procedures when responding to customer, associate, safety, or operational incidents.
