About this role

ABOUT THE JOB

MU Health is seeking a visionary and accomplished Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) to help shape the future of a growing academic health system during a period of significant enterprise transformation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the CDIO will provide strategic direction and executive oversight for information technology, digital transformation, data and analytics, cybersecurity, and innovation. This leader will play a critical role in establishing an enterprise technology vision, aligning investments with organizational priorities, and advancing capabilities that strengthen patient care, clinical outcomes, workforce effectiveness, operational performance, and the organization's missions of education and research.

The first three years of this opportunity will be particularly implementation-intensive, requiring an executive who can balance long-term strategic vision with disciplined execution. The CDIO will provide enterprise leadership for the concurrent implementation of a new electronic health record (EHR) platform and a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, alongside broader digital, data, AI, and technology modernization initiatives. These transformational investments will require exceptional strategic planning, governance, operational discipline, and organizational change leadership. Success will depend on the ability to align clinical, operational, financial, and technology stakeholders around shared priorities while delivering sustainable solutions that position MU Health for long-term success.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished healthcare technology executive with a minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare technology, digital strategy, informatics, or a related field, including at least 10 years in senior executive leadership roles. We seek a strategic, forward-thinking leader with demonstrated success overseeing complex enterprise technology operations, driving organizational transformation, and translating technology strategy into measurable business and clinical outcomes. Experience leading major enterprise implementations, particularly electronic health record (EHR) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, is highly desirable, as is experience within an integrated health system or academic medical center. The successful candidate will bring strong business and financial acumen, sound executive judgment, and the ability to build alignment across clinical, operational, academic, and administrative stakeholders. Above all, this leader will be energized by the opportunity to guide significant enterprise transformation while building the digital capabilities, organizational partnerships, and high-performing teams necessary to position MU Health for long-term success.
