About this role
About Wellio
Every young person deserves access to quality wellbeing education, regardless of which school they attend or where they live. But schools face an enormous challenge. Teachers are being asked to do more to support student wellbeing, while school leaders need better ways to understand what's working and where students need support. At Wellio, we're working to change that.
We're building a Wellbeing Management System that brings the best of student wellbeing practice into one platform. From curriculum-aligned lessons and planning tools to student surveys and insights, we're helping schools make wellbeing a consistent and measurable part of everyday learning. And we're growing fast.
Today, more than 1,000 schools, 25,000 teachers and 210,000 students use Wellio across 25 countries. We're on track for our fourth consecutive year of 100% growth. Our ambition? 50,000 schools. 25 million students. 50 countries. It's a big goal, and there's still an enormous amount to build. That's what makes this such an exciting time to join us.
The role
Wellio is hiring a Senior Product Manager, based in Europe. Until now our founders have shared product leadership. You'll take over ownership of product vision, discovery and delivery across both our platform and our content.
We're a (mostly) bootstrapped company funded by real customers. We like working on real problems that schools couldn't solve on their own. We like to ship fast without letting quality slip.
This is a hands-on role. You'll set strategy and also do the work yourself: shaping pitches, running betting tables and making sure we ship quality work every cycle.
The Work
We're inspired by product philosophies from 37signals, Linear and Airbnb, and we use Shape Up to guide our product development. We believe in small, senior teams that embrace constraints, focus on craft and deliver exceptional outcomes.
Some principles that guide us: continuous discovery, small teams over big ones, embracing constraints, fixed appetites with flexible scopes, knowing our tools and cutting with the grain, treating product as a marketing job, obsessing over craft and sweating the details, and avoiding long-term plans in favour of betting on what matters right now.
Improving student wellbeing needs technology and content that work together seamlessly. Most edtech companies split this work, with platform teams in one place, content teams in another and design somewhere else. We think that leads to narrow solutions that miss the bigger picture. At Wellio, design and content report into product, because the best solutions combine all three.
Day to day, you'll:
- Discover. Spend real time with customers. Watch teachers use Wellio in classrooms, run discovery calls, and explore new markets like primary schools and Indonesia to learn what needs to change.
- Set the vision. Work out how schools will run on the first Wellbeing Management System. Distil best practice and show how our platform and content make it work at scale.
- Shape and bet. Write pitches that make the problem clear and bring customer pain to life, whether it's a new lesson type, a feature or a whole product line. Work with engineering, design and content so each pitch is a good deal for its appetite, deliverable and usable. Then run the betting tables that lock in the next eight weeks of work for platform and content.
- Ship. Keep projects within their appetite. You'll wield the scope hammer and stop work from dragging on forever. You'll also hold the quality line and refuse to ship mediocre work just because "we promised it" or "we spent time on it".
- Close the loop. After launch, use interviews, data and usage to check that what we built actually helps, then iterate.
- Tell the story. We see product partly as a marketing job. As the person closest to the product and the problem, you'll shape the messaging that sales and marketing use.
About you
You have experience in product management and helped scale B2B SaaS products. You love well-crafted tools of any kind.
You spot opportunities and problems early, and your discovery is excellent. You dig into a customer’s real pain and build what they couldn’t have imagined.
You know content, design and engineering well enough to go deep with each, and you could write a lesson, mock up a flow in Figma or build a simple Rails feature yourself. You make customer problems feel real to the team and you hold the line on quality.
You care about outcomes, not output. No decks or status updates for their own sake: you turn problems into pitches, prototypes and shipped changes, and judge your work by what changed for schools.
You ship with AI every day. Our designer and co-founder both ship features, and you will too, with our engineers reviewing your work rather than doing it for you.
You’re based in Europe. Most of our schools and team are in Australia, so you’re comfortable working async with a few early calls each week. You’ll be close to our UK schools and London base, and travel a couple of times a year to see the team.
Why You Should Work Here
Build something from the ground up. You'll be our first Product Marketing Manager and a foundational member of our growing marketing team. You'll have the opportunity to shape a function that will play an increasingly important role in Wellio's future.
Join at an exciting stage of growth. We're growing rapidly, expanding our platform and investing in the people who will help take Wellio to the next level. There's a huge opportunity to make a meaningful contribution and grow with the business.
Make an impact around the world. Your work won't be limited to one market. You'll help schools across Australia, the UK and internationally discover and get more value from Wellio, contributing to better wellbeing education for young people around the world.
Work alongside people who've scaled. You'll work with a Head of Marketing who led B2B growth at Canva, experienced product and sales leaders, and founders who are deeply involved in building the business.
High standards, low ego, and a global team. We care deeply about our mission and the quality of our work, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. We value transparency, flexibility and strong relationships. We also bring our global team together for gatherings in places like London and Bangkok to plan, connect and have a great time together.
If you're excited by the opportunity to build something from scratch, help shape a fast-growing global company and make a difference in schools around the world, we'd love to hear from you.
