About this role
Job Requirements
At Quest Global, it’s not just what we do but how and why we do it that makes us different. With over 25 years as an engineering services provider, we believe in the power of doing things differently to make the impossible possible. Our people are driven by the desire to make the world a better place—to make a positive difference that contributes to a brighter future. We bring together technologies and industries, alongside the contributions of diverse individuals who are empowered by an intentional workplace culture, to solve problems better and faster.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordination of the end-to-end supply chain and technical requirements for mechanical systems and engineered components to meet our growing customer demands, including:
- Lead global strategic sourcing activities for mechanical commodities, heavy fabrications, and structural components.
- Perform should-costing, cost analysis, and techno-commercial evaluations for machined, cast, forged, and fabricated assemblies.
- Drive supplier development, technical vendor negotiations, and cost optimization initiatives for heavy mechanical parts.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, PM, Purchase, and Operations teams for 2D/3D drawing reviews, tolerance analysis, project execution, and technical documentation.
- Support supplier quality activities including destructive/non-destructive testing (NDT) validations, APQP, PPAP, NCRs, and CAPA closure for mechanical structures.
- Identify localization, alternate sourcing, and value engineering opportunities (VAVE) for raw materials, casting/forging suppliers, and manufacturing processes.
- Monitor supplier performance, procurement KPIs, and global supply chain risks specific to heavy industry and metal markets.
- Prepare sourcing dashboards, MIS reports, and cost-saving trackers for mechanical commodity management.
- Support New Product Development (NPD) for new mechanical designs, tooling sign-offs, and prototype builds.
Scope
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities for mechanical commodities, including transformer tanks, structural steel frames, enclosures, cooling radiators, pipework, shafts, machined components, castings, and forgings.
- Manage supplier identification, technical qualification, development, and performance evaluation tailored to heavy industrial and structural manufacturing standards.
- Perform should-costing, cost modeling, and detailed cost breakdown analysis (raw materials like structural steel plate, pig iron, aluminum; machining hour rates; labor overhead) to support commercial negotiations.
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluations , reviewing engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), material test reports (MTRs), and manufacturing capacity to achieve quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Analyze market trends regarding raw material pricing (e.g., steel indices, aluminum), supplier workshop capacity, foundry/forge loading, and global supply chain risks.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Quality, Project Management, Planning, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on drawing change notices (ECOs), welding procedure specifications (WPS), and project delivery schedules.
- Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives for mechanical components through supplier audits, source inspections, witness testing, NCR management, CAPA follow-up, and PPAP approval.
- Support project procurement activities by monitoring lead times for long-lead mechanical items (like large castings, heavy fabrications, and specialized tooling) and tracking on-time delivery.
- Lead RFQ/RFP management activities including technical package preparation (drawings, specifications, bill of materials), supplier communication, bid analysis, and sourcing recommendations.
- Identify localization opportunities, alternate sourcing strategies, and value engineering proposals (e.g., casting-to-fabrication conversions, weight reduction, design simplification) to reduce procurement costs without compromising structural integrity.
- Ensure supplier compliance with technical specifications (ASME, AWS, ISO, ASTM standards), coating/painting specifications, and customer expectations throughout the procurement lifecycle.
- Deep subject-matter expertise in heavy mechanical systems, structural integrity, and manufacturing processes with supplier management exposure.
- Prepare and maintain procurement dashboards, sourcing MIS reports, supplier scorecards, and cost-saving trackers for management review.
- Support new product development (NPD), prototype sourcing, and engineering change management (ECO) for mechanical assemblies.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams to improve procurement processes, drawing control, and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory reduction (especially for custom mechanical fabrications), supplier reliability, and overall supply chain performance.
- Action on ad hoc requests related to mechanical engineering and sourcing operations.
We are known for our extraordinary people who make the impossible possible every day. Questians are driven by hunger, humility, and aspiration. We believe that our company culture is the key to our ability to make a true difference in every industry we reach. Our teams regularly invest time and dedicated effort into internal culture work, ensuring that all voices are heard.
We wholeheartedly believe in the diversity of thought that comes with fostering a culture rooted in respect, where everyone belongs, is valued, and feels inspired to share their ideas. We know embracing our unique differences makes us better, and that solving the worlds hardest engineering problems requires diverse ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds. We shine the brightest when we tap into the many dimensions that thrive across over 21,000 difference-makers in our workplace.
Work Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering ( or related discipline) with hands-on experience in sourcing, costing, quality, and technical document control within an industrial, heavy manufacturing, or power environment.
- Deep technical understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes, including heavy fabrication, CNC machining, steel castings, forgings, sheet metal, welding standards, and surface treatments/painting.
- Clear written communication and vendor-facing confidence , especially in driving technical alignment on engineering drawings and quality tolerances.
- Fluent in verbal and written English .
- Competence with CAD/PLM and ERP systems (e.g., AutoCAD, Creo, SAP, Teamcenter, Box) and Advanced Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint.
