About this role
Description
We're the India Grocery and Everyday Essentials team, building ground-up supply chain systems in India for Amazon's worldwide quick commerce business. We're developing the systems that power this fast-growing space, including demand forecasting, buying, and inter-store transfers, built ground-up on multiple backend services. Our systems span the entire quick commerce journey, from inventory availability and placement to enabling the ordering and delivery promise.
For this greenfield initiative, you'll work alongside a talented, collaborative team of Sr. SDEs, Sr. FEEs, and PEs. It's a great opportunity to learn, grow, and build industry-leading supply chain systems from scratch.
Key job responsibilities
You solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.
You work with your team to invent, design, and build software that is stable and performant.
You are proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when each is appropriate (and when it is not). Your solutions are pragmatic.
You consider the legacy of the code you produce and write code that an SDE unfamiliar with the system can understand.
You limit short-term workarounds. You do things with the proper level of complexity the first time (or at least minimize incidental complexity).
You create flexible software without over-engineering. You make appropriate trade-offs, re-use where possible, and are judicious about introducing dependencies.
You are efficient with resource usage (e.g., system hardware, database, memory/CPU).
You work on project ideas with customers, stakeholders, and peers.
About the team
We're a fast-paced, focused team of passionate and ambitious Amazonians who strive to build industry-leading products while collaborating closely and having fun. Made up of multiple Sr. SDEs, we're working on first-of-their-kind Amazon initiatives that will scale beyond India and grocery. The team follows a flexible, collaborative culture with ample mentoring and guidance from PEs. We value high ownership, bias for action, and insist on the highest standards, following a build-fast, iterate-fast methodology. It's a great fit for passionate engineers who are equally interested in contributing to the business and product roadmap.
