About this role

Solance is building a tech-enabled payments company. We are here for businesses that operate across multiple entities, jurisdictions and currencies, and for sectors that traditional banks generally overlook. Think family offices, internationally operating companies, corporate service providers and the clients they serve. We are going through the authorisation process with the Central Bank of Ireland, one of the most reputable banking jurisdictions in Europe, and we are only getting started.

Why this role exists

Most finance people inherit someone else’s mess: the spreadsheet nobody understands, the close that takes two weeks because that is just how it has always been done. You will inherit none of that. We have built a strong business and a strong team ahead of launch, and the finance function is a blank page waiting for the right person to own it. That person builds the month-end close and the reporting from scratch, the way it should be done, and then automates it so it scales as fast as we do.

The role, in plain terms

Working alongside the CFO, you own the financial reporting of the business end to end. In practice:

Reporting and close

- Run the month-end close: journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts.

- Prepare the group consolidation.

- Prepare KPI reporting and the finance sections of the board packs and present the results to senior management.

- Prepare the statutory financial statements and act as the day-to-day contact for our external auditors.

Regulatory and safeguarding

- Prepare and monitor regulatory returns and capital adequacy reporting under the Central Bank of Ireland's EMI framework.

- Support the daily safeguarding reconciliation and the quarterly safeguarding review.

Treasury and tax

- Monitor cash positions and FX exposure across multiple currencies, in line with our operational payment flows.

- Prepare and submit VAT and other tax returns.

Planning and improvement

- Support on the annual budget process and reporting against rolling forecasts.

- Find cost efficiencies and drive automation across reporting and finance operations, working closely with our operations and technology teams.

What it is actually like

We want to be straight with you. We are an early-stage business, still going through authorisation and heading into launch. Priorities shift, some weeks are busier than others, and you will often be the person working out how something should be done before you do it. If that sounds uncomfortable, this is probably not the right move. If it sounds like the fastest way you will learn, keep reading.

Requirements

Who we are looking for

Someone who wants to build, not maintain. You have a real interest in financial services and in where payments and the movement of value are heading. You are curious, you ask when you are not sure, and you take ownership of your work from start to finish. When you spot something that could be done better, you do something about it.

You communicate clearly with people inside and outside finance, and you want to grow. This role is built for someone with the ambition to become a future finance leader.

What you bring

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA(SA) or equivalent), with 0 to 3 years PQE.

- Strong technical accounting and a process-driven way of working.

- Experience in, or audit exposure to, EMIs, payment institutions or credit institutions.

- Comfortable working too hard deadlines in an environment that keeps changing.

- A clear and confident communicator.

- A track record of improving processes, not just following them.

Nice to have

- Big 4 financial services audit training.

- Exposure to asset and wealth management, capital markets or regulatory reporting.

- Hands-on experience with cloud accounting systems, reporting tools or automation.

What is in it for you

- You report directly to the CFO and have a real say in how the finance function gets built.

- Exposure that would take years to gather in a larger organisation: reporting, regulatory capital, safeguarding, treasury, tax and audit, all inside one regulated EMI.

- Direct access to the leadership team and the decisions that shape the business.

- Room to grow. As the business scales, so do the role and the team around it.

Where you are based

This is a Dublin role, in the office at least four days a week . At our stage, it only works if you are in the room when the decisions get made.

If this reads like you, get in touch. And if it reads like someone you rate, send them our way, or send us the introduction. The best people in this world almost always come recommended, so a good word from you carries weight.
