About this role
At Grand Hotel Timeo, a Belmond Hotel, we are looking for an empathetic, proactive, and inspiring Maître d’Hôtel. In this role, you will dedicate yourself to orchestrating flawless dining experiences, guiding your team to anticipate our guests' every culinary desire, and elevating the art of hospitality with elegance and charisma.
Primary Responsibilities Include
- Guest Profile & Preference Review: Review daily reservation lists and guest histories to identify VIPs, repeat guests, dietary preferences, and special celebrations, ensuring tailored dining experiences.
- Pre-Arrival & Table Curation: Contact high-profile guests or coordinate with the Guest Relations team prior to arrival to design bespoke menus, curate table preferences, and craft personalized itineraries within our venues.
- Elite Dining Welcome: Welcome guests personally, conducting tailored recommendations, tableside storytelling of our culinary heritage, and orchestrating flawless flow throughout the service.
- Cross-Departmental & Culinary Synergy: Partner with the Executive Chef, Head Sommelier, and Guest Relations team to design unique culinary surprises, celebratory showpieces, and memorable farewell touches.
- Team Leadership & Excellence: Lead, mentor, and inspire the service team, ensuring Belmond's high standards of service, grooming, and luxury presentation are consistently met while fostering a warm, empathetic work culture.
Requirements
What You Bring
- Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a Maître d’Hôtel or Assistant Maître in Michelin-starred restaurants or luxury 5-star hotel dining environments.
- Hospitality Mindset: Natural empathy, warmth, exceptional charisma, and outstanding interpersonal skills to connect effortlessly with discerning international guests.
- Leadership & Creativity: Strong team management abilities combined with a creative flair for designing guest surprise-and-delight culinary moments.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of fine dining operations, wine pairing, upscale service techniques, and modern restaurant CRM/POS systems.
- Languages: Fluency in Italian and English; knowledge of additional languages is highly valued.
