About the Position

Our client is seeking a hands-on Site Superintendent to oversee excavation, shoring, and drilled foundation projects throughout Eastern Massachusetts. This is a field-driven role for an experienced sitework professional who can manage a job from initial layout through final grade while leading crews, coordinating equipment, and maintaining safe, productive jobsites.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage sitework from initial layout and grade setting through excavation and final grading.

- Read and interpret civil and structural plans, establish layouts, and verify grades using laser and GPS equipment.

- Oversee excavation, dig-outs, cuts to subgrade, unsuitable soil removal, backfill, and compaction.

- Supervise earth-support operations, including soldier piles and lagging, sheet piling, soil nails, and trench protection.

- Coordinate drilled caisson and pier installation, including locations, elevations, reinforcing cages, anchor-bolt templates, concrete placement, and spoils management.

- Plan daily work activities, coordinate equipment, order materials in advance, and direct a small field crew.

- Serve as the excavation competent person, maintaining safe working conditions and ensuring appropriate excavation protection.

- Coordinate with general contractors, Dig Safe, inspectors, engineers, and other project stakeholders.

- Maintain accurate daily reports and communicate job progress, site conditions, and potential challenges.

- Take ownership of field execution, productivity, safety, and overall jobsite performance.

Requirements

- Extensive hands-on sitework and construction experience, typically 20+ years or equivalent practical expertise.

- Strong skills in grading, layout, excavation, and interpreting construction plans.

- Experience with shoring and earth-support systems is highly desirable.

- Drilled foundation, caisson, or pier installation experience is a plus but not required.

- Massachusetts Hoisting License, 2A required; 1B and 1C licenses are advantageous.

- OSHA 30 certification and excavation competent-person training, or willingness to obtain them.

- Ability to lead a small crew, coordinate equipment, and manage daily field operations independently.

- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- CDL, drainage and site utility experience, and prevailing-wage project experience are beneficial.

Benefits

- Competitive compensation of $120,000–$140,000+ based on experience.

- Year-round employment with no winter layoffs.

- Take-home company truck.

- Performance-based bonus opportunities.

- Direct input into job planning, execution, and field operations.

- Local Eastern Massachusetts projects with the opportunity to be home every night.

- Flexible scheduling options, including full-time, three- to four-day, and seasonal arrangements.

- An opportunity to join a growing contractor where field experience and practical expertise are valued.

- Veterans are encouraged to apply.
