About this role

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

The project:

Mace is delivering a major expansion programme in Dubai, transforming a flagship development into a world-leading events and exhibitions destination.

We are seeking an experienced senior design manager to lead the design development of major high-value car parking structure projects, taking the existing concept design through detailed design, procurement, and construction.

The role will work closely with the senior project manager and wider project leadership team, taking ownership of the multidisciplinary design process and ensuring the design is coordinated, buildable, and aligned with programme and delivery requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Overseeing the design management of major car parking projects from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Managing the transition from the existing concept design into coordinated, procurement- and construction-ready design information.
• Managing multidisciplinary design consultants across architecture, structural, civil, MEP, transport, fire and life safety, and specialist systems.
• Establishing and managing design programmes, deliverables, responsibilities, and review gateways.
• Driving coordination between disciplines and resolving design clashes, technical issues, and package interfaces.
• Ensuring the design considers buildability, sequencing, logistics, procurement strategy, and construction methodology.
• Leading design reviews, technical workshops, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises.
• Managing design interfaces with surrounding roads, utilities, infrastructure, public realm, and adjacent development packages.
• Providing design input into procurement packages, tender documentation, and contractor selection.
• Reviewing contractor and specialist subcontractor design submissions during the construction stage.
• Working closely with project, planning, and commercial teams to identify design risks that could impact programme, cost or procurement.
• Managing design change and ensuring appropriate technical governance and approvals are maintained.
• Coordinating BIM and digital design processes to support effective multidisciplinary coordination.
• Supporting authority approvals and ensuring statutory requirements are incorporated into the design.
• Maintaining design oversight throughout construction to ensure design intent is delivered through completion and handover.

You'll need to have:
• Degree qualified in architecture or a relevant built-environment discipline.
• Professional membership or chartership with a relevant institution is advantageous.
• Significant experience in design management on major, complex projects, ideally within a PMC, consultancy, developer, or Tier 1 contractor environment.
• Strong experience taking projects from concept/schematic design through detailed design and construction.
• Strong understanding of structural, architectural, civil, and MEP coordination.
• Experience with large parking structures, podiums, transport facilities, major concrete structures, or similarly complex multidisciplinary buildings would be highly advantageous.
• Good understanding of procurement, construction methodology, buildability, and contractor-led design.
• Strong BIM/design coordination capability and experience managing multiple design consultants and specialist designers.
• Previous UAE or GCC project experience preferred.
