About this role

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Junior Associate to join our market-leading Employment & Compensation practice in Zurich.

Our Employment team advises multinational and domestic clients on the full spectrum of Swiss and international employment law matters. We work with a broad range of blue chip and global clients across a range of sectors, including financial services, insurance, IT, pharmaceutical, transport, consumer products, publishing and retail. You are a Swiss-qualified lawyer (Swiss Bar admission required) and eager to develop your expertise in employment law while working alongside experienced practitioners on complex and high-profile matters.

We work closely with both HR and in-house legal teams on day-to-day employment matters. Our lawyers also have recognized leading expertise in discrimination, collective rights and workplace change (including automatic transfer, M&A, restructurings, outsourcing, collective consultation, trade union issues, employment benefits and global mobility), as well as in employment tribunals and appellate litigation, and data privacy.

We are looking for candidates with a strong academic background, excellent German and English language skills, sound legal drafting and analytical capabilities, a commercial mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.

The Role:

You will advise clients across a broad range of employment law matters, including:

- Transactions: Employment aspects of corporate transactions, employee transfers and related documentation.
- Advisory: Day-to-day employment advice, contracts, policies, terminations, employee relations, data protection and investigations.
- International projects: Cross-border and multi-jurisdictional matters in collaboration with colleagues worldwide.
- Redundancy: Workforce restructurings, redundancies and individual and collective employment processes.
- Litigation: Employment disputes, legal research, submissions, settlement discussions and court proceedings.

As a leading global law firm, Baker McKenzie offers you an environment that, in addition to exciting mandates and a wide range of development opportunities, gives you the chance to make the most of your talents. Founded in 1949, we advise many of the world’s most dynamic and successful business organisations through our 12,000 people in 74 offices in 45 countries.

With around 200 employees in Switzerland, you will join our Zurich office and become part of a leading international law firm working on complex and high-profile matters. You will combine the exposure and opportunities of a global firm with a local working environment that is collaborative, committed, friendly and supportive.
