About this role

Job Title: Electrical Design Data Specialist Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Design Data Specialist to develop data-driven solutions for complex electrical systems. In this role, you combine deep electrical engineering expertise with modern data engineering practices to define how electrical design intent is captured, structured, and leveraged for advanced automation and analysis. You will review sophisticated eCAD designs, specify data collection requirements, and ensure that electrical logic and design rationale are accurately represented in formats suitable for AI training and engineering simulations.
Responsibilities
- Define and document requirements for electrical data collection, ensuring that electrical design intent, connectivity constraints, and engineering rationale are captured in structured, machine-readable formats.
- Develop data protocol guidelines and annotation standards, acting as the domain expert on how electrical engineering concepts should be represented for AI training and automated analysis.
- Review and curate incoming electrical and electronic (E/E) design data, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs, component libraries, netlists, and electrical network models, to confirm that they accurately reflect real-world engineering intent.
- Audit E/E design data generated from tools such as Siemens Capital, ePlan, Zuken, and related platforms to verify completeness, consistency, and alignment with defined data protocols.
- Perform lifecycle analysis of electrical designs by tracking and documenting changes across design versions, creating datasets that explain why schematics, wiring harnesses, network topologies, component selections, or design parameters were modified.
- Create and maintain versioned datasets that capture the evolution of electrical designs and provide traceability for engineering decisions and design updates.
- Use E/E design tool APIs and scripting languages such as Python to generate synthetic and augmented data, including variations of electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, network topologies, component configurations, and design scenarios.
- Automate design tasks and validation workflows to improve data quality, support engineering automation, and streamline the preparation of training datasets.
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams to align data models, ontologies, and knowledge representations with electrical and electronic design rationale.
- Support advanced engineering automation and analysis by providing well-structured electrical data suitable for simulation, AI-driven design tools, anomaly detection, and recommendation systems.
Essential Skills
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with electrical and electronic (E/E) design, including electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, connectors, electrical networks, layouts, or electrical system architecture.
- Strong understanding of electrical design fundamentals, covering functional and physical design, circuit connectivity, power and signal distribution, grounding, shielding, protection concepts, wire and cable selection, connector systems, and design-for-manufacturing considerations.
- Practical experience using E/E design software such as Siemens Capital, ePlan, Zuken, or comparable electrical design and harness engineering tools.
- Proficiency in Python or a comparable scripting language to automate design tasks, validate engineering data, and generate variations of electrical designs for data augmentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge and expertise in power grids and electrical networks, including network topology, load flow concepts, protection and distribution systems, grounding, power quality, and electrical system constraints.
- Understanding of electronics design at the PCB level, including schematic capture, component selection, signal integrity, power integrity, PCB layout considerations, and electronic hardware interfaces.
- Familiarity with engineering design ontologies, knowledge representations, or structured reasoning frameworks that capture electrical and electronic design rationale.
- Familiarity with Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), functional safety, electrical safety, and safety assurance modeling.
- Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods applied to engineering data preparation, annotation strategies, data quality evaluation, design automation, anomaly detection, or engineering recommendation systems.
- Experience with electrical and electronic simulation tools such as Simcenter, MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, PSCAD, AFS, SPICE-based tools, or comparable simulation platforms.
Work Environment
This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from any location within the United States while collaborating virtually with cross-functional engineering and data teams. You will support Pacific Time working hours, participating in remote meetings, design reviews, and data discussions aligned to that schedule. The role centers on working with advanced electrical design and simulation tools, scripting environments, and data platforms in a digital-first setting. The environment emphasizes autonomy, structured documentation, and close collaboration across disciplines to enable sophisticated engineering automation and analysis.
