Why this role is important for us
We are looking to add a senior researcher to the “Axioma by SimCorp” analytics team in London to strengthen and expand our expertise across fixed income, with a particular focus on rates products, inflation and credit curves. Portfolio risk, performance, and construction are core to SimCorp’s analytics offering, and fixed income research expertise is crucial to driving growth in our capabilities. The primary focus of the role is on curve construction methodology and developing factor risk models, with a secondary area of focus being liquidity.
As a senior member of the Analytics Research team, you will be expected to have extensive knowledge of the fixed income markets. Your expertise will help shape research direction, inform product development, and reinforce SimCorp’s credibility through a good understanding of market practice.
Your role will require the ability to work directly with sophisticated portfolio and risk manager clients, who span asset managers, asset owners, and hedge funds, as well as across the SimCorp organization to deliver solutions.
##
What you will be responsible for
- You will take a leading role in delivering SimCorp’s research agenda across rates, inflation credit and liquidity in conjunction with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Research senior leadership. This includes leading research topics end‑to‑end, from problem formulation and methodological design through to delivery, validation, and integration into production analytics and risk models.
- Your research will include the application of statistical, machine learning, and other data science techniques to extract insights from large and complex datasets. Beyond curve-building, you will be responsible for conducting validation and writing client-ready documentation and white papers.
- A core part of the role is ensuring that research insights translate into scalable, robust products. You will work closely with product management and engineering partners, exercising judgment around trade‑offs between analytical sophistication, robustness, and practical usability. You will also contribute to prioritization decisions where analytical depth and business impact must be balanced.
- Outside of your core responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to work on a wide range of fixed income and multi-asset problems as the need arises, often as the result of client requests.
- Clear and precise communication is expected, both internally and when representing SimCorp’s analytical capabilities in discussions with clients, partners, and market practitioners.
What we value
- This is a mid-senior role, and we value experience accordingly. We expect candidates to bring a strong track record of relevant professional experience in quantitative research, analytics, or modelling applied to fixed income markets. Experience gained in buy‑side, sell‑side, data, or financial technology environments is all relevant, provided it involves sustained engagement with fixed income instruments and their associated analytics.
- Strong technical skills are required. We expect a solid grounding in quantitative modelling, statistics, and numerical methods as applied to financial markets, together with practical experience prototyping analytical ideas and working with large datasets in a research environment. Experience using Python for quantitative analysis and model development is expected.
- Candidates are expected to be educated to a Master’s level degree at a minimum in a quantitative discipline, although a PhD is preferred. A professional designation (e.g. CFA, FRM) is beneficial.
- We value ownership, judgment and clarity. You should be comfortable forming views, defending analytical decisions, and being accountable for outcomes, including when trade‑offs are involved. You should be able to communicate clearly to technically sophisticated audiences, have a willingness to challenge existing approaches, and a commitment to high standards of validation and documentation.
