What’s the role?

As a Senior Analyst on our Finance Systems and Transformation team, you will own the day-to-day configuration, integrity, and compliance of Workday Payroll at Etsy. You care about getting the details right, and you know how to tell a configuration issue from a data issue or a vendor issue, fast.

You will work within the Etsy Chief Accounting Officer group, partnering closely with People Systems, Payroll Operations, Internal Audit, and our external payroll providers. You will also provide secondary support across our broader finance systems, including Workday Financials and other finance SaaS applications. You are organized, attentive, and always looking for ways to improve controls and efficiency, and you are an outstanding teammate who jumps in where needed.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director, Finance Transformation. In addition to salary, you will be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Dublin or Brooklyn office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office.

What does the day-to-day look like?

Workday Payroll (primary focus)

- Configure and maintain Workday Payroll foundations: pay groups and automatic assignment rules, annual period schedules, payment election rules, run categories and result types (on-cycle, off-cycle, on-demand, and retro), and bank account validation overrides.
- Configure and maintain pay components and related account posting rules: earnings and deductions (eligibility, calculations, and links to benefit plans and pay component groups), pay accumulators, pay balances, and annual limits, including country-specific earnings and deductions.
- Maintain payroll tax setup, including federal, state, and local tax elections, tax allocation, and multiple work jurisdiction configuration.
- Maintain payroll audit reports and class report field mappings to support reconciliation and audit requests.
- Build and maintain payroll integrations in Workday, including Core Connector and Payroll Effective Change Interface (PECI) integrations to external payroll providers and imports of external payslips, as well as related payroll accounting journal integrations.
- Create and maintain payroll-related business process, security and reporting configurations, including business process definitions, related condition rules and notifications; assignable roles, security groups and related domain and business process security policies; and report definitions and related calculated fields.
- Build and maintain payroll-related automated journal configurations in Workday Accounting Center and Workiva.
- Solve integration and file-transfer errors by reviewing logs and email notifications, working with external vendors, and proactively remediating issues.
- Plan and support testing, including user acceptance testing, feature assessment and regression testing for Workday releases, and payroll parallel testing or reconciliation.
- Translate business and technical requirements from partner teams into business rules, approval workflows, process maps, and user acceptance tests.
- Partner with Internal Audit and Compliance to implement, improve, and complete SOX controls and evidence, maintaining segregation of duties in all payroll configuration and change activity.
- Create and maintain system documentation, training programs, job aids, and manuals.

Broader finance systems (secondary)

- Support our Financial Systems leads in administering key financial systems, including Workday Financials, and provide functional support across Coupa, Blackline, Certa, Workiva, and similar finance SaaS applications.
- Support worker-related integrations with Financial Systems, in collaboration with others on the Financial System Solutions and People Systems teams.
- Partner with Procurement, Accounts Payable, Legal, Sourcing, and other teams to identify system and process improvements.
- Process financial systems access requests and follow security protocols for approved requests, in line with segregation of duties requirements.

This is a sample of the kinds of work this role will require. You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy’s discretion, or otherwise as applicable under local law.
