About this role
Reality Labs builds Meta's hardware: Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta AI glasses, Meta's first-party AI glasses, Meta Quest headsets, wrist wearables, and other AI devices including Muse Charm. The Global Supply Management (GSM) team sources the components that go into them. We set sourcing strategy, manage supplier cost and capacity, and keep production supplied through full PDP milestones and ramp.
This internship covers two tracks within GSM — Electrical & Electro-Mechanical (EE/EM) and Strategic Silicon — with placement on a specific commodity team from day one.
About Electrical & Electro-Mechanical (EE/EM)
The EE/EM team sources the electrical and electro-mechanical components across Reality Labs hardware, such as speakers, fans, passive components, PCBs and cables. The team sets sourcing strategy by part category, manages supplier cost and capacity, and keeps production supplied through launch and ramp, working closely with engineering, quality and operations partners.
About Strategic Silicon
The Strategic Silicon team sources the key silicon components across Reality Labs hardware, including SoCs, ASICs, memory, sensors, connectivity and analog ICs, and supports our system-in-package (SiP) engagements, custom silicon and IP needs. The team sets sourcing strategy based on strategic engagement, technology capability, pricing, capacity, engineering and quality, and manages supplier cost and capacity across the full program lifecycle from early engagement through NPI, ramp, sustaining and end of manufacturing.
As an intern, you will join the team from day one and own one project from start to finish. The project comes from work the team is doing now, so what you build will be used.
Track-specific project examples
EE/EM: benchmark an electro-mechanical part category across suppliers and recommend a dual-source qualification path, or build a market intelligence view of supplier capacity and price direction refreshed on a regular schedule
Strategic Silicon: build a supply and capacity view for a silicon commodity across the program lifecycle, or model the cost and lead-time trade-offs of a packaging or SiP sourcing decision
Responsibilities
Own a scoped project from definition through final deliverable, and present your findings and recommendations to team leadership
Support commodity sourcing activities, including supplier RFQs: gathering quotes, organizing bid comparisons, and supporting award recommendations with Engineering, Quality and Technical Operations
Build a bottom-up should-cost model for a key part and test it against supplier quotes, and support part cost modeling across material, conversion and tooling or non-recurring engineering
Write a sourcing strategy for a part category, covering supplier landscape, cost and lead-time benchmarks, and the cost of qualifying a new source
Map where we rely on a single supplier, measure the risk by value, lead time and qualification cost, and recommend when a second source should be required
Build an early-warning view of clear-to-build (CTB) status that compares weeks of supply against demand, and support supply readiness work such as ramp planning, risk-buy strategy, and qualification
Set up a central spend dashboard or an automated supplier scorecard, and help monitor supplier performance on delivery, quality and yield, including containment and recovery tracking
Use Meta's internal AI tools to automate analysis, reporting and data collection, and build dashboards that track supply mapping, spend, capacity and other key metrics
Partner with sourcing managers, product cost engineering and engineering on live sourcing decisions
Prepare the analysis and materials behind sourcing decisions and supplier negotiations
Qualifications

Coursework or experience in supply chain, procurement, cost modeling or manufacturing
Familiarity with silicon, electronic or electro-mechanical parts and how they are made, such as fab, OSAT, SMT, injection molding or assembly
Foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, packaging, molding, machining, stamping or finishing
Experience building cost models, dashboards or automated reports, for example in Tableau, Power BI or Python
Experience using AI or LLM tools to automate analysis or workflows
Prior internship, co-op or project experience in sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing, hardware engineering or consumer electronics
Interest in consumer electronics hardware and global manufacturing
