About this role
About The Role
Boson AI builds real-time speech and multimodal AI that makes talking to AI feel like talking to people. Higgs Audio is our family of foundation audio and avatar models. They generate natural speech, recognize speech in many languages, clone a voice from a short sample, detect sentiment, and give a voice a face. Higgs TTS 3, an expressive, open-weight text-to-speech model with zero-shot voice cloning, also powers Higgs VoiceOver, which brings directable AI voice-over into video editors. Customers use Higgs Audio through our API, through hosting partners such as Microsoft Foundry and Deep Infra, and as open weights. Thousands of developers already build on our open models on GitHub and Hugging Face.
We are hiring a Project Manager to run Higgs Audio from research to release. You will plan and ship its releases, hold every release to a clear quality bar, decide which issues get fixed first, keep the schedule on track, and bring what customers tell us back to the team. You will work with the researchers who train the models, the engineers who serve them, and the customers who use them.
This is a hands-on role. You don't need to train models, but you need to be technical enough to reproduce a bug against our API, read an evaluation report, listen critically to generated speech, and tell a real regression from noise. You will start as a senior individual contributor with real ownership of the Higgs Audio releases and roadmap.
The role is based at either our Santa Clara HQ or our Toronto office, on a hybrid schedule with at least three days a week in the office. Expect occasional travel between the two offices and to customers. The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
What You'll Do
- Own Higgs Audio releases from plan to launch. Set the release schedule, run go/no-go reviews, and make sure each release ships with documentation, release notes, an updated model card and a changelog entry
- Coordinate every channel a release goes out on: our API and Boson Workspace, open weights on Hugging Face, our GitHub repositories, hosting partners such as Microsoft Foundry and Deep Infra. Keep them in step, so that no channel falls a version behind without a reason
- Run quality control. Work with research and engineering to define the bar a release must clear: error rates across 100+ languages, voice-cloning similarity, expressiveness benchmarks such as our EmergentTTS-Eval (https://arxiv.org/abs/2505.23009), listening tests, latency and cost. Hold every release to it, and catch regressions before customers do
- Own the issue queue. Triage bug reports and feature requests from GitHub, customer support, partners and our own teams, set severity and priority, get each one to an owner, and close the loop with whoever reported it
- Keep the schedule. Break goals into milestones, track the dependencies between research, engineering and go-to-market, raise risks early, and make tradeoffs explicit when something has to give
- Bring the customer into the room. Talk to developers, enterprise customers, partners and creators, run beta programs, read usage data and support tickets, and turn what you learn into clear requirements and priorities for the team
- Make sure model changes land smoothly in the products built on them, such as Higgs VoiceOver, which runs on Higgs TTS 3
- Own versioning and deprecation: version names, migration guides, and deprecation notices that give customers time to move before a breaking change
- Report what is working. Track metrics such as release cadence, regressions that reached customers, time to resolve critical issues, adoption and customer satisfaction, and send a regular status update that leadership can read in five minutes
What Success Looks Like in Your First Six Months
- Higgs Audio ships on a predictable, published release schedule, and every release clears a documented quality bar before it goes out
- Every open issue, from our public repos and from customers, has an owner and a priority, and critical bugs are fixed within an agreed time
- Customers can follow every model and API change in a public changelog, with notice ahead of any breaking change
- A regular customer report drives the Higgs Audio roadmap, and its top requests are scheduled or shipped
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of project, program or product management on software products, including at least 2 years on technical products such as APIs, developer platforms or ML models
- A track record of shipping on schedule: you have run release processes and launch checklists, made go/no-go calls, and can point to releases you were responsible for
- Technical fluency: comfortable with Python, REST and streaming APIs, GitHub and issue trackers, and able to reproduce a bug, read logs, and analyze evaluation results in SQL, a spreadsheet or a notebook
- Experience turning customer conversations and usage data into prioritized requirements, and the judgment to say no
- Clear, concise writing in specs, release notes and status updates
- Ability to use agentic AI efficiently in your work, so you can deliver at superhuman level
- Able to work from our Santa Clara HQ or our Toronto office on a hybrid schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with speech or audio products, such as TTS, ASR, voice cloning, voice agents, or audio for media production
- Experience releasing ML models: evaluation suites, human preference studies, model cards, and open-weight releases on Hugging Face
- Experience managing the issues, pull requests and releases of an open-source project on GitHub
- Experience with enterprise customers or cloud partners such as Microsoft Foundry, AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI
- A good ear: you notice when a voice sounds off, and you can say what is wrong
- An engineering background, or a degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field
- Fluency in a language besides English. Our models speak 100+ of them
Boson AI is building AI that people can simply talk to. If you want to own how our speech models reach the people who use them, we'd love to hear from you. Please tell us about releases or products you have shipped and the part you played in them.
