About this role

Job Summary

The Carrier Contracting Specialist is responsible for managing carrier-code management and carrier contracting during mergers and acquisitions, as well as remediation of the organization's existing carrier-code inventory. The Carrier Contracting Specialist will remain the dedicated manager of the code management and carrier contracting operational responsibilities through the M&A process, as well as continued maintenance as acquisitions will continue to generate the need for dedicated ownership.

Job Functions

M&A Carrier Onboarding & Conversion Timing

- Manage the post-closing period for acquired agencies through full resolution — the phase after carrier notification that is currently under-managed, which can continue for months past system conversion

- Determine, for each acquired carrier code, whether it should be combined, folded into an existing branch code, closed, or retained, accounting for pre-existing INSURICA carrier relationships, geographic or volume constraints, and download-activation timing at conversion

Portal Access & Banking

- Obtain and manage carrier portal administrator access, statements, logins, [banking details], and appropriate user permissions for each code

- Navigate carrier-specific access requirements, including carriers that require separate named users per producer code or reject shared/corporate email addresses

- Resolve access gaps that prevent direct-bill and accounting staff from retrieving supporting statements even when revenue has already been recorded

- Manage, through outsource vendor, individual user access changes tied to hires, departures, and terminations, including replacing access left behind by terminated employees' logins in a timely manner

Legacy Code Cleanup

- Continue and extend through outsource vendor code-collection efforts, resolving the agency-specific judgment calls (combine, fold in, close, retain) that require carrier-agency knowledge outsource partner could not provide, and reaching branches not yet fully covered

- Correct inactive codes, incorrect names, outdated addresses, and codes associated with the wrong tax IDs

- Coordinate with Accounting and branch operations leaders to collect and validate carrier-code information across all branches

- Prevent downstream operational consequences of poor code management — restricted product availability, misrouted service documents, delayed quoting and binding, and coverage gaps

Aggregator Transitions

- Manage the transition of carrier codes from aggregators to markets with direct appointments, including coordinated carrier contracting, code changes, user access, and follow-up through completion

- Perform all actions relating to customers and companies in a manner that will avoid issues involving potential errors and omissions

- Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development

Additional Responsibilities

This job description is intended to describe the level of work required of the person performing the position. Essential functions are outlined; however, other duties may be assigned, as needs arise, or as required to support the essential functions. Specific performance objectives may be developed each year to measure the performance of the tasks and functions listed in this job description.

Remote work opportunities vary by location, department, and business need and are subject to change, as needed. Each manager will provide details on any telecommuting opportunities, as well as scheduling, within their department.
