About this role

Clinical Assistant - Rapid Access

Annual Salary: $37,799

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Help make it easier for individuals in our community to connect with the behavioral health services they need. Join the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board as a Clinical Assistant with Rapid Access, our same-day entry point for mental health and substance use disorder services.

Rapid Access allows individuals to walk in without a scheduled intake appointment, complete registration and assessment requirements, and begin the process of connecting with appropriate treatment services. As a Clinical Assistant, you will help individuals navigate this process while supporting clinicians with accurate documentation, scheduling, and follow-up.

This is a great opportunity for someone with human services, behavioral health, medical office, or clinical documentation experience who enjoys helping people and working in a fast-paced environment.

What We're Looking For

Candidates must meet one of the following:

- Bachelor's degree in Human Services and six months of experience working with clinical documentation; OR

- Associate degree in a medical specialty, Human Services, Business, or related field and one year of experience working with clinical documentation; OR

- Three years of specialized work experience related to the position.

What You'll Do

- Assist individuals with the Rapid Access intake process, including pre-registration, gathering histories, reviewing documentation, explaining program requirements, and scheduling appointments.

- Review and correct clinical documentation to help ensure compliance with program, licensing, accreditation, managed care, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements.

- Work closely with clinical staff to maintain complete and accurate records and communicate documentation concerns requiring clinical review.

- Help clients overcome barriers to treatment by coordinating timely appointments, connecting them with the appropriate clinician, providing reminders, and following up after missed appointments.

- Contact clients and referral sources to help re-engage individuals in treatment and communicate documentation trends or concerns to clinical supervisors.
