What You Will Do:

• Technical Leadership & Oversight: Lead an engineering team focused on opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical design.

• Oversee critical technical efforts including drafting, structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, IR drop calculations, and Power/Signal Integrity (PI/SI) analysis.

• Program Management & Cross‑Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison between the Program Office, Chief Engineer’s Office, and external suppliers.

• Track schedule milestones, optimize resource allocation, and collaborate across optical, systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure top‑tier design and build quality.

• Ensure obsolescence is effectively managed by identifying and qualifying replacement parts to support rate production.

• Supply Chain & Manufacturing Support: Partner with procurement, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to maintain stable production pipelines.

• Support supplier onboarding and scaling activities, and manage priorities for a production program.

• Requirements & Compliance Engineering: Ensure strict adherence to requirements and engineering principles.

• Prepare and present technical data packages to Engineering Review Boards (ERB), Material Review Boards (MRB), and Change Boards, aligning Engineering and Operations on implementation and maintenance of engineering changes.

• R&D & Prototyping: Lead proof‑of‑concept designs for integrating new technologies and contribute to Internal Research and Development (IRAD) initiatives.

• Testing & Hardware Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive environmental qualification test plans (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC).

• Lead root‑cause investigations and implement verified corrective actions for hardware anomalies.

• Flexibility: Ability to work extended hours and travel as needed to meet program requirements.

• Travel: Up to 25% travel required for supplier management and site visits.

• Additional: Perform duties assigned by the Office of Chief Engineering (OCE) and the IPT Lead.

• Must be capable of rapidly troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience

• Experience in hardware engineering design, development, and production support.

• Industry Exposure: Experience across multiple DoD programs or similarly complex development efforts.

• Engineering Analysis: Demonstrated expertise in static, dynamic, and thermal mechanical analyses.

• Design & Compliance: Proven success developing high‑performance hardware meeting stringent specifications and compliance standards.

• Troubleshooting & Testing: Strong hands‑on mechanical and electrical aptitude with a track record of solving complex electro‑mechanical issues.

• Technical Documentation: Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings and performing precise tolerance stack‑up analyses.

• Core Competencies: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Engineering Leadership: Experience leading cross‑functional engineering teams in aerospace, defense, or related industries.

• Hardware Background: Prior experience designing opto‑mechanical, electro‑mechanical, or electrical hardware.

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Advanced experience in thermal, structural, and transient shock modeling.

• Environmental Design: Demonstrated ability to engineer ruggedized hardware capable of withstanding extreme shock, vibration, and thermal environments.

• CAD Software: Strong experience with PTC Creo Parametric or comparable CAD platforms.
