About this role

Job Description

Thomson Reuters is building a new senior advisory function to serve our most strategic corporate accounts. The Strategic Innovation Partner is a client-facing role operating at the intersection of AI strategy, technology transformation, and in-house professional services. This person engages senior department leadership to help them think through how AI changes the way their legal, tax, and compliance functions operate — and works across the full client lifecycle from pre-sale through post-sale to ensure Thomson Reuters is positioned as an indispensable strategic partner.

Strong candidates may come from senior roles inside corporate legal or tax departments, law firms with substantial corporate practices, or accounting and advisory organizations. The role is not about product demos or adoption metrics — it is about executive relationships and strategic counsel at the department leadership level.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as the senior executive advisor for a portfolio of strategic corporate accounts, engaging department leadership — General Counsel, VP of Legal Operations, Chief Tax Officer, or equivalent — on AI strategy, transformation roadmap, and operating model design.

- Build trusted, peer-level relationships with corporate leadership that give Thomson Reuters a seat at the table when strategic technology decisions are being made.

- Partner with the Account Executive across the full sales and relationship lifecycle — from pre-sale and close through post-sale — providing the executive credibility and strategic altitude that enables the broader account team to operate more effectively.

- Develop and deliver a clear, informed point of view on how AI is reshaping in-house legal and tax functions — specific enough for a GC staff meeting, grounded enough for a skeptical CFO.

- Partner and maintain dotted line relationships to Product Organization to deeply understand our product roadmap, feature development and upcoming launches to best articulate back to customers.

- Surface executive-level insight back to TR product and business leadership on where corporate departments are investing, what is blocking AI adoption, and what senior leaders need from their technology partners.

- Represent Thomson Reuters at senior corporate legal, legal ops, and tax industry forums, client roundtables, and executive events.

Required Qualifications

- A background as a senior technology, legal operations, innovation, or transformation leader inside a major corporation, law firm, or professional services organization
- 10–20 years of career experience, with meaningful time inside an organization that mirrors the clients you will serve.

- Practical understanding of how corporate decision-making works — how to build buy-in across legal, finance, IT, and business leadership, and where technology transformation stalls.

- A grounded point of view on how AI changes in-house legal and tax staffing, vendor strategy, compliance obligations, and service delivery — developed through direct experience.

- Familiarity with relevant Thomson Reuters products — CoCounsel, Practical Law, Westlaw, HighQ — and how they fit into a broader enterprise technology environment.

- Ability to operate credibly with department leadership without a commercial agenda — you will not carry a quota, but your relationships will directly influence retention and growth.

- Executive communication skills: effective one-on-one with a skeptical General Counsel and equally effective in a governance or technology committee setting.

- Collaborative by nature — you will work alongside CSMs, Solutions Consultants, AI Solutions Architects, Forward Deployed Engineers, and Professional Services, each owning a distinct part of the client relationship.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelors or advanced degree
