About this role

We are looking for a Senior Global Supply Chain Manager to own strategy and outcomes for Indirect categories. This may include Packaging, MRO/Consumables, Financial, Marketing, Service Centers, Delivery Centers, Industrial Services, Chemicals, Gases, Environmental and Safety services across all North America Business Units (Motors, Energy, Solar and Service). This person sets the category plan, the commercial model, and the supplier set so Tesla gets supply assurance, price, and delivery, not just a completed bid.

Tesla is a fast moving, dynamic environment where flexibility and adaptability are key attributes needed for success. The candidate will lead a team under them, make the call when the business and the supplier disagree, and be accountable for the result.

- Own the category strategy and the annual sourcing roadmap: what to bid, renegotiate, consolidate, or exit

- Set should-cost and total-cost targets before the event, and use them in the negotiation

- Lead multi-year agreements, pricing mechanisms, and the commercial model

- Run executive meetings and align business-unit leaders who do not report to Supply Chain

- Design the supplier set, including dual source, regional versus low-cost, and the exit if a supplier fails

- Will be responsible for savings, process improvements including supplier consolidation, spend under management, spend accuracy, etc.

- Responsible to hire and develop talent so they can progressively take on bigger roles

- Direct buyers on events in the category and hold the quality of the award

- Read market, capacity, and specification risk early and reset the plan before it hits the operation or the budget

- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years in Procurement or Consulting, including 4+ years owning a category or a material book of indirect spend

- Has closed multi-year agreements and can show the savings and the operating change, not only the award

- Leads stakeholders who do not report to them and can hold a no

- Uses a cost model to set the target, not only the supplier's quote

- Makes decisions with incomplete information and adapt quickly with new information

- Strong Excel, enough to challenge a model rather than only maintain a tracker

- Experience in more than one indirect category is preferred
