We're improving the way we live and work by intelligently connecting energy systems, buildings, and industries!!
Smart infrastructure from Siemens makes the world a more connected and caring place – where resources are valued, where impact on the world is considered, where sustainable energy is delivered optimally and efficiently. It provides the flexible infrastructure to allow society to evolve and respond to changing conditions. Technology and the ingenuity of people come together to be at one with our environments and to care for our world. We do this from the macro to the micro level, from physical products, components, and systems to connected, cloud-based digital offerings and services. Siemens offers a broad portfolio of grid control and automation; low- and medium-voltage power distribution, switching and control; and building automation, fire safety and security, HVAC control and energy solutions.
JOIN US! WE MAKE REAL WHAT MATTERS. THIS IS YOUR ROLE
Key Responsibilities
Design & Modelling
- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D&3D manufacturing drawings for sheet-metal enclosures, busbar supports, gas tank modules, and operating mechanisms for MV switchgear.
- Perform structural and thermal calculations to ensure mechanical integrity under normal and fault condition.
- Ensure all mechanical designs comply with Siemens quality benchmarks and international safety standards.
BOM & Data Management
- Generate, structure, and update comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and part lists in Siemens PLM/ERP tools (Teamcenter/SAP).
- Change Management topic Handling/coordination of change management effectively and precisely at both manufacturing locations local and global.
Manufacturing Support
- Work with sheet-metal and casting vendors on technical clarifications.
- Provide shop-floor technical support during assembly, gas-filling, and mechanism adjustment phases to resolve production roadblocks.
Testing & Validation
- Support mechanical, routine, and type-testing processes (such as mechanical endurance operating cycles, pressure tests, and gas-leakage checks).
- Build, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical prototypes during new product development phases.
Candidate Profile :
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in sheet metal, heavy electrical equipment, or switchgear manufacturing.
- Proven hands-on experience working with Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) principles, pressure vessel/enclosure design, or compact ring main units.
- Demonstrated experience in designing mechanical operating mechanisms, interlocking devices, and spring-charge systems.
Technical Skills
- CAD Software: Advanced proficiency in Siemens NX (preferred) or Creo for 3D modelling and large assemblies; AutoCAD for 2D layouts.
- PLM & ERP Systems: Experience with data management tools like Teamcenter, SAP, or AGILE for BOM creation and configuration management.
- Analysis & Simulation: Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS) for structural stress, thermal rise, and short-circuit electrodynamic force calculations.
- Drafting Standards: Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and adherence to international design standards (IEC 62271-200 / 203, IEEE/ANSI).
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of medium-voltage (MV) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) construction, sheet-metal design, enclosure manufacturing, and mechanical operating/interlocking mechanisms.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFA): Skill in optimizing designs for cost reduction, ease of assembly, and manufacturability (Value Engineering / VAVE).
Soft Skills
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong communication to coordinate effectively with electrical, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in managing component tolerances, gas-tight sealing designs, and rigorous documentation control.
- Project & Time Management: Ability to handle multiple modular customization projects concurrently under tight manufacturing deadlines.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis and troubleshoot complex mechanical fit, form, and function issues.
