The opportunity

Help shape the future of QBE's core insurance technology landscape. As Principal Enterprise Architect - Core Platform, you will define the technology vision and strategic direction across critical policy, claims, workflow, payments, document and content management capabilities.

This is an opportunity to look beyond today's architecture and determine how AI, agentic AI, intelligent automation, cloud platforms and emerging software architectures can support QBE's future. You will turn complex business objectives and evolving technology trends into a pragmatic strategy and pathway forward.

About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch. We're an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries - which means we're big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact.

It's an exciting time. We're building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner. What if you could have a positive impact - at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you'll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Your new role:

You will provide enterprise architecture leadership across QBE's Core Platform landscape, defining and evolving the technology vision, strategies and multi-year roadmaps that support our insurance business.

Working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders, you will make sense of complexity and ambiguity, establish a clear future-state direction and create practical transition pathways. You will also help QBE understand where to invest, modernise, simplify or adopt emerging capabilities while maintaining long-term flexibility.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Define and maintain the technology vision, strategy and roadmap for QBE's Core Platform landscape.
- Shape strategic direction across policy and claims platforms, including Guidewire, along with workflow, orchestration, payments, document and content management technologies.
- Translate business strategy and emerging technology trends into clear architecture implications, investment priorities and practical transition roadmaps.
- Develop a clear point of view on how AI, agentic AI, automation, cloud and emerging platform architectures could reshape insurance platforms and processes.
- Lead architecture assessments for significant platforms and technology capabilities, working with vendors and procurement through evaluation and assurance activities.
- Frame complex technology choices into clear options, trade-offs and recommendations that senior leaders can understand and act on.
- Partner across Architecture, Engineering, Security, Data, Risk, Compliance, Procurement and platform teams to align strategic technology decisions.
- Identify opportunities to simplify the technology landscape, reduce unnecessary complexity and strengthen enterprise architecture practices.

About You

You are an experienced enterprise or technology architect who can operate confidently across strategy, technology and business conversations. You bring strong technical depth, sound commercial judgement and the ability to create clarity when the destination or solution is not yet fully defined.

You'll also have:

- Strong enterprise architecture experience within a large and complex organisation.
- Deep knowledge of modern enterprise technology architectures, platform ecosystems and integration across complex landscapes.
- Experience shaping technology strategies, target-state architectures and multi-year roadmaps.
- Strong awareness of emerging technology trends, particularly AI and agentic AI, and the ability to translate them into practical enterprise implications.
- Experience assessing technology platforms and working with vendors and procurement on strategic technology selection.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to explain complex technology choices to senior executives.
- The confidence to challenge conventional thinking while remaining pragmatic about organisational constraints and delivery realities.
- Knowledge of core insurance platforms and technologies such as Guidewire, Pega or OpenText would be highly regarded.
