About this role
## The job
Analysis of humanitarian crises is at the heart of ACAPS. When decision makers get clear, concise and timely information, they make better choices and improve outcomes. ACAPS became an independent organisation in early 2026, at a time when humanitarian funding has changed profoundly. And yet, our ability to respond quickly to emerging crises depends on a diversified and sustainable funding base.
At ACAPS, we call this role " Strategic Partnerships and Grants Manager ". You will strengthen relationships with existing institutional donors while identifying and securing new funding partners, including foundations, private sector, etc. You will also ensure that proposals, donor reporting and partnership offers communicate the value of ACAPS’ analysis clearly. Working closely with members of ACAPS Senior Management Team and analysis leaders as well as our Innovation and Technology Lead, you will help secure the predictable, flexible funding ACAPS needs to deliver on its mandate.
What you’ll do
- Fundraising strategy. You are a key member of the CEO-led fundraising strategy group. You follow donor trends and priorities, keep an overview of funding opportunities, and take a leading role in ensuring retention of existing donor base and the active pursuit of new revenue routes.
- Partnership development. You are the first point of contact for new partnership enquiries and work with the COO to grow our partner base. You keep a global overview of our partnerships, capture what works, and represent ACAPS at external networking and business development events.
- Programme development. You coordinate how ACAPS develops new programmes, from concept to contract, including the strategic design of new project approaches. You lead proposals and programme revisions, quality-assure log frames and budgets against donor policies, and secure internal approvals.
- Due diligence and negotiations. You oversee due diligence and applications for new donors, such as DG ECHO certification. On joint proposals you lead negotiations with partner organisations, and you lead negotiations with donors on project amendments.
- Support to global teams and hubs. You give teams and hubs strategic direction on funding and partnership opportunities, so we approach donors consistently. You develop thematic donor priorities, such as climate change, anticipatory action and protection, and build teams’ capacity to keep a sustainable donor base.
- People leadership. You line-manage the Grants Coordinator, our main focal point for donor reporting and compliance, and guide them on contracts, sub-grant agreements and donor communications. You create a psychologically safe working environment, set clear expectations, give regular feedback, challenge them to do their best work and manage underperformance if needed.
- Grant systems and compliance. ACAPS is still building its systems as an independent organisation. You make sure the right due diligence, contract and grant management processes and guidance are in place and used.
In addition to the above, everyone at ACAPS is expected to help out — as needed and within reason — with tasks that may not be a regular part of their normal job description.
## Your profile
What we’re looking for:
- You have a university degree, ideally a Master’s, and at least 9 years’ experience in the international humanitarian sector. Specific senior-level experience of fundraising, partnerships, proposal development or grants management at the global level in an international humanitarian or development organisation is required .
- Experience managing grants and service contracts with European donors is a must. Hands-on experience with due diligence processes such as DG ECHO certification is a big plus.
- Having worked with donors such as the Dutch MFA, Norad, Sida, ECHO, FCDO, DFAT, GAC, GFFO or large foundations is a big plus.
- A passion for analysis or data in the humanitarian and development space is important to enable you to best communicate ACAPS value-add to potential and existing partners and donors. Previous experience with ACAPS would be a significant advantage.
- Your written English is excellent, and you adapt how you communicate for donors, partners and colleagues.
- You plan well, pay attention to detail and are at home in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- You enjoy building relationships and spotting opportunities others miss. You thrive in an organisation that is still building its structures, and you like helping to create them.
Other information:
You report to the Chief Operating Officer. You line-manage the Grants Coordinator, who is based in Kenya. You work closely with the CEO and the Senior Management Team, with the leads of our global teams and hubs, the Innovation and Technology Lead and with donors and partners outside ACAPS.
## Why us?
Join ACAPS at an exciting stage in our evolution as an independent humanitarian organisation. Our analysis helps humanitarian decision-makers better understand crises, identify emerging needs and make informed decisions where reliable information is often limited.
As Strategic Partnerships and Grants Manager, you will help shape how ACAPS builds strategic relationships, mobilises resources and develops partnerships that enable our work to reach further. With ACAPS continuing to grow as an independent organisation, you will have the opportunity to build, influence and shape our approach to partnerships and resource mobilisation.
You’ll work with a diverse, international team and engage with donors, partners and humanitarian actors across different contexts.
We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, alongside a flexible and international working environment.
