Kaizen Team Leader

Summary/ Objective:

This position is a working position that will support the manufacturing operations and Kaizen department through fabrication, repair, or modification of auxiliary equipment.

The role will also be responsible for the coordinating of activities to other members of the Kaizen fabrication team as well as tracking and monitoring their progress. This member will have direct responsibility to confirm work completion for TMs and communicating overtime work if required to complete the task.

Essential Functions (but are not limited to):

- Ensures safety of self and others by following all Safety Policies/Procedures and wearing all required PPE.

- Operates a cutting torch, welding equipment, drill press, saw and various hand tools such as saws, drills, plasma cutters, grinders, etc., and able to be certified to operate a forklift and genie boom.

- Container, dolly, parts rack, carts repair using welder, saw, drill press etc.

- Fabrication from scratch of parts racks, parts carts, part stands, etc.

- Welding parts racks, containers, parts carts, etc.

- Fabrication of any other requested production supporting item.

- Miscellaneous duties to help various departments implement Kaizens.

- Daily 5S of the Kaizen shop.

- Assigning and balancing workloads to other kaizen Team Members

- Tracking progress of work assigned and task completion

- Reading and understanding of 2D drawings to understand fabrication requirements

- Communicating overtime to TMs as required

- Ability to work overtime including weekends when required.

- Regular attendance is required.

Must be flexible to work in all areas and in your department regardless of duties listed above in order to accomplish YKTA Goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

- Two or more years of hands-on welding and general fabrication experience

- Knowledge of material and fabrication processes and tooling and fabrication equipment capabilities.

- Ability to pass a welding skills test if required.

Environment :

- Work is conducted in an industrial office/ plant setting.

- Frequent movement throughout an industrial plant environment being exposed to high noise levels and equipment normally used in stamping / welding/ Ecoat environments.

Physical Demands:

- Prolonged periods of standing on the plant floor.

- Repetitive reaching, pulling, bending, lifting overhead is possible.

- Must be able to lift up to 33 pounds at times.

- Ability to traverse the plant facility.
