At RAWSO Constructors, we're more than just a construction company. We're a team of driven individuals who take pride in our work, look out for one another, and believe in doing things the right way.

As a growing heavy civil construction company in Middle Tennessee, we specialize in earthwork, site development, utilities, and infrastructure construction. Our success is built on our people, our commitment to excellence, and a culture that values teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

Are you someone who enjoys working with technology, solving technical challenges, and turning construction plans into accurate, usable models? Do you have a strong eye for detail and an interest in learning how surveying and modeling support construction projects?

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Survey & Modeling Technician I to join our team!

In this role, you'll support our heavy civil construction projects through construction modeling, quantity calculations, grade verification, as-built documentation, and survey-related activities. You'll also assist with drone and mapping activities while developing your technical skills and gaining hands-on experience with construction technology.

You'll work closely with our Survey Department, Project Managers, and field teams to help ensure accurate information is available to support construction operations.

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, values accuracy, enjoys learning, and is committed to growing their technical knowledge while contributing to the success of our projects.

What You'll Do

- Assist with building and maintaining accurate finish-grade construction models using AGTEK, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and other surveying software.

- Import and work with CAD and PDF files to develop construction models, including contour elevations, building pads, utilities, and road profiles.

- Review construction plans and assist with identifying discrepancies or necessary model adjustments.

- Support the review of drawing revisions, updates to construction models, and distribution of current machine control files to field teams.

- Assist with earthwork and material quantity calculations to support project planning, production tracking, and decision-making.

- Organize and maintain accurate survey files, construction models, and project documentation on company servers.

Surveying, Mapping & Field Support

- Assist with subgrade and finish-grade verification for roads, parking lots, building pads, and other construction areas.

- Support the preparation of as-built documentation for ponds, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water systems, and fire protection site plans.

- Provide general support for construction surveying, layout, and field verification activities.

- Assist with drone and mapping activities, including data collection, processing, and documentation as assigned.

- Support the use of surveying technology and digital mapping tools to provide accurate project information.

- Coordinate with Survey personnel, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to support project needs and resolve technical challenges.

Collaboration, Safety & Professional Development

- Work closely with the Survey Department and other project teams to maintain accurate and current construction information.

- Assist with reviewing project data and identifying potential discrepancies that may affect construction activities.

- Follow company safety procedures, jobsite requirements, and applicable PPE standards.

- Participate in required safety meetings and training activities.

- Continue developing technical knowledge of construction surveying, modeling software, drone technology, and industry best practices.

- Take initiative in learning new processes and identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.

What You Bring to the Team

- Basic knowledge of or experience with construction surveying, civil site modeling, or related technical work.

- Familiarity with construction plans, grading, elevations, and basic earthwork calculations.

- Exposure to AGTEK, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, or similar construction modeling software, or a willingness to learn.

- Ability to interpret construction drawings, CAD files, and project specifications with guidance.

- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain documentation and manage assigned tasks.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with Survey personnel, Project Managers, and field teams.

- A self-motivated approach with a willingness to ask questions, learn new skills, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.

- Interest in developing technical skills related to surveying, construction modeling, drone operations, and mapping.

- Commitment to jobsite safety, quality, and teamwork.

- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening.

Bonus Points If You Have:

- An associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Construction Technology, or a related field.

- Experience with AGTEK, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, or similar modeling software.

- Familiarity with drone surveying, photogrammetry, or digital mapping.
