About this role
Vault is a non-bank private lending company offering a wide array of financial services such as equipment leasing, and other lending products. Vault has a devoted team of experts with years of experience in both financial services and real estate. We are dedicated to delivering products and services that meet the diverse needs of our borrowers, quicker and easier than traditional sources!
We have a fast-paced, fun, progressive, and friendly work environment which comes with incredible opportunity that can be attributed to the “work hard, play hard” and “have fun while you work” values of the organization. This is a company with no politics or red tape: if you want to get something done, you will have the latitude and opportunity to run with it, giving you the chance to take ownership of your results with no ceiling on what you can accomplish.
Role
Vault is looking for a detail-oriented Credit Analyst with 2–3 years of experience to support our Equipment Leasing and Working Capital portfolios. Working within the operations team, you will be the first line of defence on every new deal: entering and analyzing credit applications received from our broker network and the Working Capital department, (delivered through our online proprietary system or manually), validating the information provided, and identifying fraud indicators before files advance. You will thrive in a high-volume environment, work within tight SLAs, and take pride in clean, accurate data.
Key Responsibilities
- Input and analyze submitted credit applications, ensuring all mandatory information is complete and accurate, including equipment description if applicable and NICS codes.
- Identify and escalate fraud risk by connecting the dots between the application, the intended use of the equipment, the business and guarantor addresses, review of the vendor; flag inconsistencies and missing mandatory information.
- Complete KYC/AML process with diligence and follow procedures where verification fails.
- Review commercial and consumer credit bureaus to validate applicant identity and credit information; follow up with customers by phone to verify information whenever there is a bureau alert or with brokers if there is a gap in the file.
- Review corporate profiles to confirm active status, legal name, and ownership details.
- General overall review of information provided for compliance, validity and consistency and raise alert on any concerns
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data submitted - check for duplicate customer records; merge files and maintain clean, consistent data entry.
- Perform vendor profile checks and review vendor information for legitimacy and consistency with the transaction.
- Upload and review financial statements and bank statements, checking for gaps and signs of tampering or alteration.
- Meet tight SLAs while managing a high volume of applications; prioritize workload to keep deal flow moving.
- Prepare complete, well-documented files and clear notes for credit decisioning, escalating exceptions and concerns to senior underwriters and management.
- Ensure compliance with corporate credit policies, procedures and fraud-prevention protocols.
- Proactively identify process improvements and emerging fraud trends and share them with the team.
- Complete ad hoc requests as needed.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or credit/fraud operations in a financial services environment, preferably in equipment leasing, commercial finance, or working capital/small business lending.
- Post-secondary education in business, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Working knowledge of commercial and consumer credit bureaus (e.g., Equifax, TransUnion, Dun & Bradstreet) and the ability to interpret credit reports and alerts.
- Familiarity with business financial statements and bank statements; ability to spot irregularities, inconsistencies, and potential document tampering.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to connect information across multiple sources.
- Strong technical skills: comfortable learning proprietary software, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and online corporate registry and verification tools.
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills, including confidence in contacting customers by phone to verify information.
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage high volumes, and meet deadlines and SLAs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Sound judgment, integrity, and a self-motivated, team-oriented approach.
