About this role
Burly Boyz Moving & Storage is a Canadian company providing local and long distance relocation, packing and storage services from depots in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto.
Our Relocation Specialists (RSs) sell over the phone. They help customers through one of life's biggest transitions by understanding their needs, building the right moving solution and asking for the booking. Our Sales team is at the start of the customer journey, and we're investing in the leadership it needs to continue our Canadian expansion.
We're looking for a Sales Manager who knows how to close high-ticket sales over the phone and, more importantly, knows how to teach it. Your job is to build a team of closers! You'll coach RSs on discovery, value building, objection handling and asking for the order, and you'll hold them accountable for the activity and results that produce booked moves.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Coaching and Closing
- Coach RSs on consultative phone selling: discovery, value building, objection handling, pricing conversations and asking for the booking.
- Review recorded calls and quotes to find specific, teachable coaching opportunities.
- Review Closed Lost opportunities to understand why we lose business and what to change.
- Provide live deal coaching on high-value and difficult opportunities, teaching the RS to close rather than closing for them.
- Coach attachment and add-on selling: packing, materials, Cargo Protection Plan (CPP), storage, custom crates and vehicle transport.
- Develop and deliver sales training around common objections and customer scenarios.
- Build individual coaching plans for each RS and track whether the coaching is producing results.
- Support onboarding and development of new RSs.
Performance and accountability
- Monitor individual and team performance against daily, weekly and monthly targets: revenue, closing percentage, average price per move, quote volume, speed to quote, call activity and pipeline conversion.
- Make sure leads are contacted, quotes go out fast and open opportunities are worked, not left to age.
- Identify underperformance early, set clear expectations, agree on action plans and follow through.
- Recognize and reinforce strong performance as readily as you address weak performance.
- Own RS schedules, coverage and attendance so Sales is staffed when customers call.
What Success Looks Like
Your success isn't measured by how many deals you close. It's measured by how many better salespeople you create, and whether the numbers prove it.
You'll know you're succeeding when:
- Team total sales, closing percentage and average price per move improve.
- RSs confidently ask for the booking and handle objections instead of avoiding them.
- Sales conversations become more consultative and less price-driven.
- Attachment rates on CPP, materials and other add-ons go up.
- RSs know their numbers and take ownership of them.
- Team keeps up with our fast paced environment and leads are worked fast and open opportunities don't sit untouched.
- Performance problems are caught early and commitments from 1:1s are followed through.
- Coaching produces measurable improvement in individual RS performance.
What We're Looking For
Minimum requirements
- 10+ years of sales experience .
- 5+ years directly managing salespeople , with responsibility for their performance, not peer mentoring or training.

- Demonstrated experience coaching salespeople and improving their results.
- Experience running regular 1:1s, addressing underperformance and building performance improvement plans.
- Willingness to remain customer-facing as a player-coach.
Skills and traits
- Strong objection-handling and negotiation skills in a phone-based environment.
- Comfortable reviewing recorded calls and giving specific, direct, constructive feedback.
- Fluent with sales KPIs: revenue, closing percentage, average ticket, quote volume, activity and pipeline conversion.
- Able to have difficult conversations calmly, respectfully and directly, and to challenge excuses.
- Comfortable with CRM systems, call analytics, dashboards and AI-supported sales tools, and quick to learn new systems.

The Kind of Leader We're Looking For
If your instinct when a salesperson is struggling is "Give me the customer and I'll close them," this probably isn't the right position.
If your instinct is "Let me listen to the call, figure out what's getting in their way, teach them how to close it themselves, and then follow up to make sure it sticks," we want to talk to you.
We're not looking for someone intimidating or interested in policing people. We're looking for someone who can say: "Here's what we agreed to. Here's what happened. Let's understand why, decide what changes and follow up." And then actually follow up.
We're building great salespeople, not dependency on a great Sales Manager.
