SAP Fiori Back-End Developer

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

We are seeking an SAP Fiori Back-End Developer to create, enhance, and resolve issues within the OData services and APIs that power our Fiori applications within our SAP S/4HANA environment. Your primary focus will be writing modern ABAP code, working within the ABAP RAP framework, and configuring the content of the Fiori Launchpad.

While custom front-end Fiori (UI5) development is not required, this role thrives on a working knowledge of standard SAP UI extensibility tools to adapt existing applications. We are looking for a collaborative professional who can partner directly with stakeholders, understand technical requirements, and drive key back-end deliverables.
- Create & Refine APIs: Build new OData V2 and V4 services using the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP). Efficiently resolve, fix, and optimize existing services in S/4HANA.
- Modern ABAP Development: Develop reliable back-end logic using the Object-Oriented (OO) ABAP programming model (Classes, Interfaces) within ABAP Development Tools (ADT / Eclipse).
- Integration: Integrate and support existing BAPIs, RFCs (Remote Function Calls), and Function Modules, particularly when incorporating them into Unmanaged RAP scenarios. Maintain and enhance older OData services built with the classic SAP Gateway (SEGW).
- Enhance CDS Views & Metadata : Build or modify back-end Core Data Services (CDS) views. Apply Metadata Extensions (MDE) to control data exposure and UI behavior.
- Enhance Standard Apps: Utilize Key User Extensibility tools (e.g., Custom Fields and Logic) and Fiori UI Adaptation mode to modify standard SAP Fiori apps without writing custom front-end code.
- Manage Fiori Launchpad: Manage Technical Catalogs, Business Catalogs, Spaces, Pages, Target Mappings, and Fiori Tiles.
- Testing & Optimization : Use tools like Postman and SAP Gateway Client to test APIs. Write ABAP Unit tests and optimize database performance (e.g., using AMDP for SAP HANA).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business analysts to define data requirements and work seamlessly with front-end developers to ensure smooth API integration.

Are you a MATCH?

- Experience Level: Ideally, you bring 3 to 6 years of solid, hands-on experience in standard SAP ABAP development (including OO ABAP, RFCs, and Function Modules), with recent experience on an SAP S/4HANA system.
- ABAP RAP & OData: Practical experience building and troubleshooting OData services using ABAP RAP (both Managed and Unmanaged scenarios).
- Classic Gateway (SEGW): Demonstrated capability to work with and enhance classic SEGW-based OData services.
- Tooling: Skilled in using Eclipse / ADT for development tasks.
- Fiori Extensibility: Practical experience using Key User Extensibility (CFL) and Fiori UI Adaptation mode.
- Soft Skills: Effective and empathetic communication skills with the ability to explain back-end constraints to non-technical stakeholders. A proactive and team-oriented approach capable of thoughtfully designing logic and delivering services.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

- Knowledge of Fiori front-end technologies (SAP UI5, Fiori Elements, JSON) to better understand how the UI consumes back-end APIs.
- Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) ABAP Environment.
- Familiarity with modern ABAP version control (e.g., Git / gCTS).
