Your Role:
As an Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for the design, build and implementation of infrastructure solutions for Unix / Linux Domain. You will fix/troubleshoot and propose improvements to project deliverables and assist the project manager in the definition of project scope, objectives ensuring technical feasibility.
You will perform functional analysis of solutions as part of developing the initial project requirements. Moreover, you will be responsible for the completion of manuals for the handover of the Infrastructure to the Operation team and you will proactively identify SME areas of operational weakness and propose service improvement plans.
Who you are :
- Experience: Minimum 7+ years of dedicated, hands-on engineering experience in large-scale enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure environments.
- Core Technical Expertise: Deep SME-level expertise in operating systems, specifically across Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), alongside Solaris or IBM AIX systems.
- L2 Administration & Operations: Extensive experience with daily system administration tasks, including logical volume management (LVM), filesystem maintenance, file permissions, cron job management, and log rotation/analysis.
- User & Identity Management: Strong practical knowledge of user account administration, group management, and integration with LDAP, Active Directory (AD), and Samba for centralized authentication.
- Monitoring & Alerting: Proficient in using enterprise monitoring platforms (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Datadog) to track system health, triage active alerts, and manage resource thresholds.
- Networking & Protocols: Solid understanding of L2 network troubleshooting, including TCP/IP, routing tables, firewall configurations (iptables, firewalld), SSH keys, and network utilities (tcpdump, netstat, dig).
- High Availability & Clustering: Proven track record designing and maintaining high-availability architectures using clustering tools like Pacemaker or IBM PowerHA.
- Virtualization Engines: Deep familiarity managing, provisioning, and optimizing heterogeneous virtualization ecosystems, including VMware vSphere, KVM, and IBM PowerVM.
- Enterprise Infrastructure Services: Thorough technical experience configuring and maintaining core services including DNS (BIND), Mail Servers (Postfix/Sendmail), and patch repository management via Red Hat Satellite or SUSE Manager.
- Configuration Management & Automation: Practical experience deploying infrastructure-as-code and configuration workflows utilizing Ansible, SaltStack, Python, or advanced shell scripting (Bash).
- Service Management Standards: Clear alignment with ITIL frameworks and proven experience operating within rigorous Incident, Change, and Problem Management lifecycles to meet operational SLAs.
- Security Hardening & Patching: Hands-on experience executing security remediation, implementing OS patches, and aligning ecosystems with global standard benchmarks such as PCI-DSS and CIS guidelines.
- Collaboration & Scale: Superior communication skills with a demonstrated ability to execute multiple parallel projects within complex, cross-border, and internationally remote engineering teams. Also provide support on planned week end activities like patching.
- Project and Delivery : Ability to individually drive projects and ensure deliverables on time
