About this role
Make a Difference That Matters! Join Four Oaks as a Supervised Community Treatment Counselor!
Be the Positive Influence That Helps a Young Person Find Their Way!
Are you passionate about helping young people? Do you have the patience, compassion, and determination to make a difference, even on the challenging days?
At Four Oaks, we believe every young person deserves someone who sees their potential, believes in their future, and is willing to help them get there.
We're looking for caring, energetic, and dedicated individuals to join our team as Supervised Community Treatment Counselors!
If you're looking for a career where you can build meaningful relationships, help youth overcome challenges, and make a real difference in your community, this could be the opportunity for you!
More Than a Job. A Chance to Change a Life!
As a Supervised Community Treatment Counselor, you'll work with youth ages 13–18 who are receiving treatment for mental health or behavioral health concerns.
These young people may be facing challenges that aren't always easy to see or understand. That's why we use a Trauma-Informed Care approach, focusing on understanding what may be behind a young person's behavior rather than simply reacting to it.
You'll help youth develop healthy coping skills, build confidence, manage emotions, and learn how to make positive choices.
Some days you'll be a coach. Other days you'll be a mentor, a listening ear, or simply the person who reminds a young person that they're capable of more than they realize.
And sometimes, the smallest moments make the biggest difference!
What You'll Do
Every day is an opportunity to help youth learn, grow, and take steps toward a brighter future.
Here's what your day-to-day could look like:
- Be a positive role model! Build trusting, respectful relationships with youth while providing encouragement, guidance, and support.
- Help youth build life skills! Use everyday situations to teach problem-solving, communication, emotional regulation, and healthy decision-making.
- Look beyond the behavior! Use Trauma-Informed Care practices to better understand the challenges youth are facing and respond with patience and compassion.
- Help prevent challenges before they grow! Recognize early signs of frustration and use proactive strategies to prevent situations from escalating.
- Be a calming presence! Apply behavior management and de-escalation techniques to help youth work through difficult situations safely.
- Celebrate the progress! Recognize positive behaviors, encourage growth, and help youth take pride in their accomplishments.
- Help youth understand their choices! Guide them in recognizing how their behaviors affect themselves and others while developing skills to make positive changes.
- Support individualized treatment goals! Follow treatment plans and provide daily supervision, guidance, and therapeutic interventions.
- Make everyday moments meaningful! Use daily activities and interactions as opportunities to reinforce healthy behaviors and life skills.
- Be there when it matters! Help ensure youth have their basic needs met while providing consistent care and support.
- Get involved in the community! Safely transport youth to program activities, appointments, and community resources while following agency safety protocols.
- Work together for success! Collaborate with coworkers and treatment teams to review progress, share feedback, and provide consistent support.
Who We're Looking For
You don't have to have all the answers to make a difference. Sometimes, what matters most is showing up with patience, consistency, and a willingness to help.
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working with teenagers and helping them reach their potential.
- Has a passion for supporting youth experiencing mental health or behavioral challenges.
- Can remain calm, patient, and professional during difficult situations.
- Understands the importance of building relationships based on trust and respect.
- Is willing to learn and use Trauma-Informed Care and positive behavior management techniques.
- Can provide structure, encouragement, and appropriate boundaries.
- Communicates well and enjoys being part of a team.
- Is dependable, adaptable, and ready for a role where every day can look a little different.
- Is comfortable supervising youth during daily activities and transporting them as needed.
- Believes that every young person deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed.
Why This Role Matters
Not every success comes with a big celebration.
Sometimes success is a young person learning to walk away instead of reacting.
Sometimes it's watching someone use a coping skill they've been practicing.
Sometimes it's a teenager who has struggled to trust adults finally feeling comfortable enough to ask for help.
And sometimes it's simply being the consistent, positive person who shows up for them every day.
Those moments matter. And at Four Oaks, you'll have the opportunity to be part of them!

This work isn't always easy, but knowing you've made a difference in a young person's life can make it incredibly rewarding.
Ready to Be Someone Who Makes a Difference?
If you're looking for more than just a paycheck and want a career where your patience, encouragement, and compassion can truly change lives, we'd love to hear from you!
