Job Description

The Business Intelligence Lead is a senior individual contributor and a key member of the Operations FP&A and Transformation team. This role transforms operational, financial, and workforce data into actionable insights that improve business performance and support informed decision-making across the organization.

The Lead independently owns assigned initiatives from initial problem definition through solution design, development, testing, deployment, adoption, and ongoing support. The role serves as the primary day-to-day owner for project scope, requirements, milestones, stakeholder coordination, data investigation, technical delivery, documentation, and training. The Lead is expected to operate with limited day-to-day direction and to engage the manager for strategic alignment, approval decisions, and support removing organizational roadblocks.

This is a hands-on technical and business leadership role and the successful candidate must combine strong business acumen with advanced capabilities in Power BI, SQL, data modeling, reconciliation, and analytical problem-solving. They must be able to move effectively from a business question to a technical solution, from analysis to insight, and from insight to a clear recommendation.

Key Responsibilities

- Own assigned business intelligence and analytics initiatives end to end, including problem definition, requirements, scope, project planning, milestones, solution design, development, testing, business validation, deployment, documentation, training, adoption, and post-launch support.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for stakeholders across Operations, Finance, HR, and IT, translating business needs into clear analytical requirements, measures, data products, dashboards, and decision-support solutions.
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards, scorecards, semantic models, and reporting solutions that support operational, financial, workforce, and strategic decision-making.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, validate, reconcile, analyze, and troubleshoot large datasets across multiple enterprise systems and databases.
- Reconcile disparate data sources and establish trusted, repeatable datasets and metric logic suitable for management reporting and business decision-making.
- Investigate data discrepancies and root causes, resolve issues within the role’s authority, and escalate material risks or cross-functional dependencies with a clear recommendation.
- Analyze performance trends, risks, opportunities, and business drivers; form and test hypotheses; and convert findings into practical recommendations and measurable next steps.
- Manage project scope, priorities, dependencies, and delivery commitments. Identify changes or constraints early and recommend options that balance business value, accuracy, timing, and maintainability.
- Support transformation initiatives through KPI development, process analysis, performance measurement, reporting modernization, and adoption of scalable analytical practices.
- Establish and maintain strong documentation for requirements, metric definitions, data lineage, business rules, testing results, known limitations, operating procedures, and ownership.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, usability, and appropriate controls across reporting and analytical environments.
- Mentor project contributors and share technical and business knowledge when appropriate, without formal people-management responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Eight or more years of progressive experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, FP&A, financial analytics, operations analytics, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience independently leading complex analytics or business intelligence initiatives from initial problem definition through deployment, adoption, and ongoing support.
- Advanced SQL skills, including experience querying, reconciling, validating, troubleshooting, and analyzing large datasets from multiple sources.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard and report development, data modeling, semantic models, DAX, visualization design, performance considerations, and deployment practices.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to use Excel effectively for analysis, reconciliation, validation, and communication.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to connect operational and financial performance, interpret KPI movement, and recommend practical actions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations under ambiguity.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy, documentation, and consistent metric definitions.
- Strong project ownership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, stakeholders, and delivery commitments with limited day-to-day support.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor technical and analytical concepts for business and senior leadership audiences.
- Good judgment regarding when to act independently, when to seek approval, and when to escalate a risk, decision, or stakeholder issue.
- Candidates should be able to describe an analytics or dashboard solution they owned end to end, including the business problem, stakeholder requirements, technical approach, data challenges, key decisions, final recommendation, and measurable business outcome.

Preferred

- Experience working with SAP, Workday, payroll systems, and Google BigQuery.
- Experience supporting Operations, FP&A, workforce analytics, or business transformation initiatives.
- Experience establishing or improving KPI definitions, data governance, reporting standards, or analytical operating processes.
- Experience presenting findings and recommendations to Directors or Vice Presidents.
