About this role
We are seeking a Director of Product Management to lead our property management product portfolio across Asia Pacific , with primary focus on Australia and New Zealand. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role based in Sydney, reporting directly to the Vice President of Product Management for MRI's property and financial management products. The Director is the senior product leader in APAC for MRI's property management solutions, close to our customers, regional teams, and the market.
The portfolio includes Strata Master, Palace, and Property Tree, established products that serve distinct customer segments and represent meaningful recurring revenue to protect, grow, and modernize. The Director will have direct responsibility for these products and indirect responsibility for PMX, MRI's globally managed property management product.
The Director will lead a team of approximately seven product managers and product owners, with the authority to shape and evolve that organization as the business changes. The role balances near-term revenue protection and customer retention with longer-term evolution, including cloud readiness, workflow automation, AI-enabled capabilities, partner ecosystems, and alignment with MRI's broader product direction.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy
- Define the strategic role of each product based on customer segment, market position, revenue importance, competitive dynamics, and maturity.
- Balance revenue protection, retention, customer satisfaction, technical health, regulatory needs, and growth across products with different customers and pressures.
- Develop investment recommendations and business cases, and make disciplined prioritization trade-offs, backed by clear success metrics for adoption, retention, revenue, quality, and modernization progress.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop product managers and product owners, setting high standards for customer discovery, roadmap discipline, and delivery partnership.
- Organize the team to fit the business, adjusting structure, ownership, and decision rights as priorities evolve.
- Build cross-product coverage so the team can absorb change and keep deep expertise available. This is a player-coach role with direct involvement in key customer, roadmap, and commercial decisions.
Customer and Market Engagement
- Serve as the senior product leader for APAC customers, regional commercial teams, and partners, engaging directly with strata managers, property managers, agency leaders, and finance users.
- Understand the pressures facing property managers, including staffing constraints, margin pressure, and compliance obligations, and translate customer insight, usage data, and competitive intelligence into product strategy.
- Serve as the APAC entry point into Product for PMX, a secondary and indirect responsibility, partnering with Sales on opportunities, bringing APAC customer needs and escalations to the global PMX team, and advocating for regional requirements in the global roadmap.
Modernization
- Lead direction for cloud transition, workflow automation, AI-enabled experiences, integrations, and partner ecosystems, improving workflows across communications, banking, payments, trust accounting, and reporting.
- Keep regional products and customers prepared for MRI's long-term direction, and manage transitions with care for customer trust and continuity.
Execution and Communication
- Lead cross-functional delivery with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Support, Finance, Legal, and Compliance, and partner with regional commercial leaders on positioning and launch readiness.
- Run clear operating rhythms for roadmap and product health reviews, and give executives concise updates. Own and resolve issues, and bring forward the decisions that need executive input with a recommendation.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of product management experience, including leadership of B2B SaaS, enterprise, or vertical market software.
- Proven success leading a team of product managers or product owners with distinct ownership areas, and building or restructuring an organization as needs change.
- Track record defining strategy, roadmaps, and investment cases for mature, revenue-significant products where retention, quality, growth, and modernization must be balanced.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Sydney, with the ability to work across Australia and New Zealand time zones and with global colleagues, and to travel regularly in the region.
Preferred Experience
- Domain experience in property management, strata, residential property, trust accounting, or accounting software , ideally in Australia and New Zealand. We value this highly, but not at the expense of strong product management fundamentals.
- Familiarity with regional regulatory, banking, and payments considerations, and with cloud transition or legacy modernization for established products.
Skills and Capabilities
- Portfolio leadership: Ability to set direction across multiple products and make clear investment and prioritization decisions.
- People leadership: Ability to coach product managers and product owners, clarify ownership, and build a high-performing team.
- Domain orientation: Ability to understand workflows across property administration, owner and tenant engagement, compliance, reporting, banking, and trust accounting.
- Commercial and modernization judgment: Strong grasp of how product decisions affect retention, revenue, support load, and competitive position, and how to guide established products through cloud transition and automation.
- Executive communication and influence: Ability to simplify complex topics into clear recommendations and to align regional and global teams without relying solely on formal authority.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred. Product management, technology, accounting, real estate, or agile certifications are a plus.
Success Profile
The ideal candidate is a senior product leader who can manage distinct property management products without treating them as interchangeable, combining credible product leadership with an understanding of how property managers and accountants work in this region. Success is measured by revenue protection and growth, customer retention and satisfaction, roadmap execution, product quality, modernization progress, team effectiveness, and the ability to build a coherent APAC portfolio strategy.
