About this role
Help Change Lives. Help Change Generations.
Some young people have experienced more trauma than most adults can imagine. At The Florence Crittenton Agency (FCA), your work can help adolescents find safety, build healthier coping skills, reconnect with family, and begin a different future. We are seeking a master's-level counselor who believes healing is possible, understands that progress takes persistence, and wants to make an impact that can extend across generations.
This is meaningful clinical work-and it is demanding. Our residential programs serve adolescents with complex trauma, mental health needs, and challenging behaviors. The right counselor combines empathy, strong boundaries, sound clinical judgment, dependable follow-through, and a commitment to the whole treatment team.
A Schedule That Respects Clinical Work
- Flexible full-time scheduling, including the option of four 10-hour workdays or five 8-hour workdays, as long as client services, team responsibilities, and documentation are completed.
- Rotating on-call responsibility for crisis consultation and response; this is not a crisis-free or strictly office-hours role.
What You Will Do
- Provide individual therapy to adolescents using trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches appropriate to each client's needs.
- Provide family therapy and engage caregivers in healing, communication, and preparation for successful transitions.
- Develop and facilitate clinically focused, master's-level therapeutic groups.
- Complete assessments, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other required clinical documentation accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with residential staff, case managers, nursing, supervisors, and other team members to promote consistent, safe, coordinated treatment.
- Support crisis assessment, de-escalation, and clinical decision-making, including participation in the rotating on-call schedule.
- Maintain ethical boundaries, confidentiality, professional standards, and fidelity to agency treatment models.
What Helps Someone Succeed Here
- A master's degree in counseling, social work, or a closely related clinical field; applicable credentialing and supervision requirements will be confirmed by HR.
- Experience with adolescents, trauma, family systems, residential treatment, or high-acuity behavioral health is especially valuable.
- Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license and be insurable by FCA's auto insurance carrier. Must be 24+ years of age due to company insurance coverage requirements for possible use of agency vehicles or transport of clients.
- Strong organization and documentation habits: flexibility comes with accountability for clinical coverage and timely records.
- Comfort working collaboratively and responding thoughtfully when crises occur.
Compensation
Salary is $60,000 per year. Counselors are eligible for quarterly bonuses of up to $1,500 based on completion of timely therapy and documentation.
