Summary:

At MYSTERY RANCH, we design and build gear that meets the highest standards of durability, functionality, and innovation. The Industrial Designer will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documents for all MYSTERY RANCH products to convey key product details and visual callouts for MYSTERY RANCH suppliers. The Industrial Designer I will also act as a graphic design resource to the Product team for the purposes of packaging, on-product graphics, internal visual aids and documentation, and technical concept visualization support for both designers and developers.

What You'll Do

2D Design & Technical Graphics (Primary Focus)

- Develop color-accurate, detail-driven technical documents from sew samples, BOMs, and development inputs.
- Translate complex constructions, components, and sub-assemblies into clear, easily understood visual communication.
- Revise and update technical documents throughout the development cycle, including ECR-driven changes.
- Standardize visual systems, layouts, and illustration conventions to ensure consistency across product lines and platforms.
- Collaborate with Product and Quality teams to improve efficiency in the technical document and visual layout process.

Graphic Design & Visual Communication

- Serve as a graphic design resource for Product Development, supporting: Packaging graphics
- Instructional manuals, guidelines, and training tools
- Technical concept visualization for design and development reviews
- On-product graphics, including logo wear and other branded goods

- Maintain and evolve the brand’s visual design language within technical and product-facing assets.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to ensure visual alignment across internal and external materials.

Product Design & Development Support

- Support Industrial Designers with 2D illustrations for design reviews as necessary.
- Manage and upload production pattern files and visual assets within the PLM system and appropriate virtual locations.
- Assist QA/QC teams in improving visual inspection criteria and documentation clarity.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing defects through improved visual instructions and clarification.

What You Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Greater than 2 years of experience in 2D illustration, graphic design, or technical design within a product or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong 2D illustration skills; advanced proficiency in programs such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign.
- Strong understanding of soft goods construction techniques.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to accept and apply critical feedback.
- Personal interest in outdoor pursuits is highly valued.
