About this role

# About the role
Amaray Care is a privately owned, licensed home care agency serving Maryland families since 2014. We're looking for an experienced RN or LPN with deep home care experience to train our caregivers in the field on an as-needed (PRN) basis, in the homes of the clients they serve.

You'll prepare new caregivers for their first shifts and retrain current caregivers when a client's needs change, such as a new dementia diagnosis, a fall, or a return home from the hospital. Many of our clients need total care or live with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, so you'll know how to teach safe, hands-on care for clients who need the most support.
This is a field-based role. You'll spend most of your time in client homes across Montgomery, Prince George's, Howard and Frederick counties..
# What you'll teach

- New caregiver onboarding: hands-on orientation in the client's home before or during a caregiver's first shifts.
- Retraining when needs change: updated training whenever a client's diagnosis, mobility or care plan changes, or after a hospital or rehab stay.
- Total care: bathing, bed baths, toileting and incontinence care, skin care and pressure injury prevention, feeding assistance, and repositioning.
- Safe mobility: ambulation, transfers (bed, chair, toilet, shower), gait belts, walkers, wheelchairs and Hoyer lifts, and fall prevention.
- Alzheimer's and dementia care: communication techniques, redirecting difficult behaviors, sundowning, wandering prevention, daily routines that reduce agitation, and caregiver self-care.
- Medication support: medication reminders and assistance within each caregiver's scope, and observing and coaching Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs) as they give medications, following each client's medication plan and the delegating RN's instructions.
- Infection control and safety: hand hygiene, PPE, emergency response, and recognizing and reporting changes in a client's condition.
- Documentation: accurate care notes, timesheets and EVV check-in and check-out.

Field and quality responsibilities

- Run skills check-offs and competency evaluations for new and current caregivers.
- Make unannounced field visits to observe care and give on-the-spot coaching.
- Spot skill gaps, recommend targeted training, and keep training records up to date.
- Report changes in a client's condition or caregiver performance to the RN and care coordinators so care plans can be updated.
- Help build and update our training materials, checklists and caregiver skills library.
- Respond to client and family concerns about care quality, professionally and promptly.
