Get to Know Us
Horizon3 is a fast-growing, remote cybersecurity company dedicated to the mission of enabling organizations to proactively find, fix and verify exploitable attack vectors before criminals exploit them. Our flagship product, the NodeZeroTM platform, delivers production-safe autonomous pentests and other key assessment operations that scale across the largest internal, external, cloud, and hybrid cloud environments. NodeZero has been adopted by organizations of all sizes, from small educational institutions to government agencies and Global 100 enterprises. It is used by IT Ops/SecOps teams, consulting pentesters, and MSSPs and MSPs.
We are a fusion of former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers & operators, and formerly frustrated cybersecurity practitioners. We're committed to helping solve our common security problems: ineffective security tools and false positives, resulting in alert fatigue, blind spots, "checkbox” security culture, cybersecurity skills shortage, and the long lead time and expense of hiring outside consultants. Collectively, we are a team of learn it alls, committed to a culture of respect, collaboration, ownership, and results.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Onboarding & Provisioning team, you’ll build the workflows that activate NodeZero customers—from the purchase event through accurate account and asset provisioning to the customer’s first pentest. You’ll help ensure entitlements are applied correctly at activation and reduce friction and failure across onboarding paths. This work spans reliable service integrations and asynchronous workflows, with close collaboration across licensing, administration, Product, and customer-facing teams. You’ll own significant changes through release and production support, improving how customers move from purchase to successful use of the platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services and workflows that provision customer accounts and assets and activate the appropriate product entitlements.
- Own projects from technical design through testing, release, observability, and production support, including purchase-triggered and partner-related flows where applicable.
- Build reliable asynchronous workflows with safe retries, idempotency, error handling, and recovery from partial failures.
- Improve monitoring and troubleshooting for provisioning and activation; investigate failures and address root causes.
- Partner with licensing, administration, Product, and customer-facing teams to deliver a consistent path from purchase to product activation.
- Write tests, design documentation, runbooks, and operational guidance; use rollout practices that support safe changes.
- Contribute to design and code reviews and support teammates through technical problem solving.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong ownership and sound judgment when working on customer activation paths where accuracy and reliability matter.
- Ability to reason about distributed workflows, failures, and recovery while keeping customer impact in view.
- Clear communication and collaboration across service boundaries and with Product and partner teams.
- Attention to detail and commitment to tested, observable, well-documented production systems.
- Ability to manage concurrent work, surface risks early, and learn from operational feedback.
Required Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend services.
- Experience designing APIs, data models, or distributed workflows for production systems.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience, plus experience with a cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with Docker or other containerized applications and a strong foundation in testing and production operations.
- Ability to own complex work, communicate clearly, and collaborate across engineering and Product teams.
Required Tech Stack Experience

- Experience with entitlements, multi-tenant SaaS, partner channels, or product-led growth workflows.
- Experience with Python or Go, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Temporal, Prefect, or similar tools.
