About this role
Omitron is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Development, Marketing and Sales to establish and lead the company's first dedicated commercial sales function. This executive leadership position will focus on expanding Omitron's presence in the commercial space industry by transforming more than 40 years of NASA and Department of Defense (DoD) mission operations expertise into market-ready software products and services. The selected candidate will develop and execute commercial growth strategies, establish sales infrastructure, identify new business opportunities, and build relationships with commercial satellite operators, ground segment providers, and emerging space companies. This individual will oversee the full commercial sales lifecycle, including product positioning, pricing strategies, pipeline development, contract negotiations, and revenue generation, while collaborating closely with Omitron's executive leadership, engineering teams, and product stakeholders. This position will be based in Colorado Springs, CO, and Beltsville, MD , with a hybrid work arrangement requiring time at both offices, significant travel, and occasional off-hours support.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial development, marketing, and sales strategy for Omitron's proprietary software products and engineering services, leveraging the company's extensive NASA, DoD, and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) experience.
- Establish and lead Omitron's commercial sales function, including pricing models, licensing and subscription structures, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, sales processes, pipeline reporting, and marketing materials.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue commercial market opportunities involving satellite constellation operators, ground station networks, SDA providers, and emerging space companies.
- Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of commercial business opportunities, establishing measurable sales objectives, revenue targets, and business growth strategies.
- Manage the complete commercial sales lifecycle, including prospecting, customer engagement, product demonstrations, proposal development, contract negotiations, and closing.
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to translate Omitron's mission-proven technical capabilities into commercially viable products and customer-focused solutions.
- Provide strategic input into commercial product development and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with market demands while maintaining existing government program commitments.
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with commercial customers, industry partners, resellers, and systems integrators to expand market presence and business opportunities.
- Represent Omitron at commercial space industry conferences, trade shows, customer meetings, and other industry events to strengthen brand awareness and establish business relationships.
- Monitor commercial market trends, competitive developments, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for business expansion and product differentiation.
- Establish and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales pipeline activity, bookings, revenue performance, and commercial growth projections, to executive leadership.
- Coordinate with contracts, legal, and other internal stakeholders to ensure commercial business activities maintain appropriate separation from government contract data, proprietary information, and pricing.
- Support the development and execution of long-term commercial growth initiatives aligned with Omitron's broader strategic business objectives.

- Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, or commercial growth initiatives within the space, satellite operations, ground systems, or related aerospace industries.
