Zuora is the monetization platform modern businesses run on, including pricing and packaging, CPQ, usage metering, billing, payments, collections, and revenue recognition.
As the Zuora Service Offering Director, you will drive the build-out of Embark’s Zuora practice from the ground up. You will shape the practice strategy, establish the operating model, build a differentiated Zuora + Workday offering, support strategic client engagements, develop joint pipeline with Zuora and Workday, and build the team and repeatable capabilities required to scale.
Your Role
In the early days you'll wear many hats: hands-on architect, delivery lead, and the face of the practice to clients and partners. You won't be expected to do all of this yourself, and you won't be doing it alone for long. As the practice grows, you'll build the team and roles that take on the pieces below — for example a partner/alliance lead who owns the relationship with Zuora and Workday sellers who bring us deals, delivery leads who run engagements, and enablement and pre-sales support. Your job is to build that organization, deciding what you do yourself now and what you hand off as volume grows.
As the Zuora Service Offering Director, you will:
- Partner with existing Embark leaders to build the Zuora practice, including the strategy, business plan, target industries and business models, investment priorities, differentiation, and operating model.
- Own the practice’s commercial performance, including bookings, revenue, pipeline, utilization, capacity planning, delivery economics, and the development of scalable offerings.
- Provide executive oversight and solution assurance across Zuora engagements, while directly leading selected strategic pursuits and complex implementations and optimizations.
- Lead or oversee Zuora implementations and optimizations, including new deployments, re-implementations, migrations, and process improvements across CPQ, usage metering and mediation, Billing, Payments, Collections, and Revenue.
- Own our joint Zuora + Workday story. Design end-to-end order-to-cash solutions where Zuora runs monetization as the operational subledger and Workday Financials, Accounting Center, and Prism serve as the financial core, using the certified Zuora Connector for Workday instead of bespoke integrations.
- Set the technical standards for how we architect Zuora environments, including product catalog and pricing design, APIs, Workflow, and integrations with CRMs, ERPs, GLs, tax engines, payment gateways, and data warehouses, so every engagement is built to scale and stays audit-ready.
- Help clients monetize what’s next, including usage-based, credit, commitment, and AI pricing models, and put Zuora AI agents to work across billing, revenue, and collections operations.
- Build repeatable implementation, optimization, advisory, and managed services offerings that create value for clients and recurring growth for the practice.
- Build the tools, training, playbooks, accelerators, and reference architectures our Zuora team will run on as we grow, including prebuilt designs for B2B, B2C, and hybrid business models.
- Represent Embark at Zuora events, Workday Rising, user groups, and industry forums, building our name as a go-to Zuora implementation partner.
- Work hand in hand with Zuora and Workday alliance and sales teams on joint pipeline, account planning, executive workshops, assessments, and co-sell motions.
- Enable Embark’s business development and account teams to identify Zuora opportunities, qualify demand, position the offering, and forecast pipeline accurately.
- Build relationships with CFOs, CAOs, controllers, and revenue and billing operations leaders, and turn those conversations into engagements.
- Recruit, mentor, and grow a bench of Zuora consultants who can run implementations and optimizations independently.
- Partner with business development on proposals, RFPs, scoping, commercial models, and executive presentations for Zuora engagements.
What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months
- Establishing a clear Zuora practice strategy, operating model, and investment plan.
- Building the initial delivery team and a practical development and certification path.
- Creating repeatable offerings, accelerators, playbooks, and reference architectures.
- Developing qualified joint pipeline with Zuora and Workday.
- Securing and successfully delivering initial lighthouse engagements.
- Establishing a scalable post-go-live optimization or managed services motion.
- Building strong client and partner references that support continued growth.
What You Bring
- Deep, hands-on Zuora experience. You have implemented Zuora Billing and Zuora Revenue across subscription, usage-based, and hybrid models, and you understand how Zuora connects with CRMs, ERPs, GLs, tax, payment systems, and data platforms.
- Broader experience across the Zuora platform is preferred, including CPQ, Payments, Collections, usage mediation and metering, rating, Orders, APIs, Workflow, Extensions, and Zuora AI use cases.
- Workday Financials integration experience, ideally with Accounting Center and Prism, or a strong record of connecting billing and revenue subledgers to a comparable ERP.
- A track record of building a practice or service line from the ground up, not just delivering projects.
- Experience owning or contributing to practice economics, pipeline development, proposals, forecasting, and the conversion of opportunities into profitable delivery work.
- Real order-to-cash and revenue expertise. You can discuss ASC 606 and IFRS 15, contract modifications, usage rating, billing operations, revenue recognition, reconciliation, and SOX controls as comfortably as architecture.
- Experience developing repeatable delivery methods, accelerators, managed services, or optimization offerings.
- Strong people leadership. You coach well, communicate clearly, build trust with clients and partners, and stay steady when things are ambiguous.
- The ability to operate comfortably across executive conversations, sales pursuits, solution architecture, delivery governance, and talent development.
- Zuora implementer certifications, such as Billing or Revenue Solution Architect or Implementation Manager, are a plus.
